I see people all the time saying "Oh I lost my placement matches on purpose, but I'm in bronze/silver/gold now and I keep losing." Well, it's kind of funny because it's really ironic.
Anyways, I purposely put myself in Bronze and I told myself that I would have to work my way to Platinum/Diamond. Lo and behold, after only 79 hours (according to xFire), I have finally reached Platinum with a 24-18 record.
This is just a message to people who think they're so good, but get placed in bronze/silver/gold and can't promote yourself: you suck, admit it.

I suck :D. I can't seem to get past gold no matter what I do. Oh well.

Oh, I thought you were talking about getting 3rd place at a tournament. ー。-

Isn't purposely putting yourself in bronze just an excuse to newb bash, like a midseason iccup account reset?
Or am I missunderstanding something?

Or am I missunderstanding something? Maybe so but I think it could be different based on your reasoning. I can see people trying to prove to themselves that they didn't just get a lucky 5 game streak to be placed into plat, but that they could play through the ranks and earn it after a larger number of games, which seems like a more reliable way to judge their skill. And that no matter where they are placed initially, they can work to where they really are. But it seems silly I agree - don't see why you wouldn't play your best every time.

You cannot get into diamond off placement matches.

I was #1 in my diamond league in beta. I got placed in silver and I keep losing for some reason. I'm just bad I guess.

In beta I purposely tanked my ratings and had a harder time because it was non-stop all-in cheese in silver league. I had always been fairly high rated and didn't have AS much experience dealing with the cheese
