The first day is done and I did a bit of practice. But first things first.

i would stop mass gaming, and attempt to learn a few thing first. sounds like you don't know anything about competitive bw- and frankly going on icup will discourage you quite quickly. What i would suggest would be looking at liquidpedia. Learn and memorize the 'standard' build order for each of your 3 match ups. play against a computer opponent and make sure that you drill each build into your head. You need to memorize this build, and make sure that you can follow it to the letter.
Well I stated that I played Starcraft years ago and that was it. Actually I had some games on ICCup but that's like 10. I also followed both seasons of TSL, a lot of ESL Tv, tons of Day9 Dailies and some more esport, so in theory I got some basic knowledge down. What I lack is practice and of course some build orders to go by. Ah and I played SC2 a bit. i would stop mass gaming, and attempt to learn a few thing first. sounds like you don't know anything about competitive bw- and frankly going on icup will discourage you quite quickly. i suggest you watch progamer vods (or even better, replays) when you need a break, and before playing, in addition to those 4 other things on your list. This will help you learn faster and give you more motivation as well. GL
Yup, that's what I like to do. More on that in a second.i suggest you watch progamer vods (or even better, replays) when you need a break, and before playing, in addition to those 4 other things on your list. This will help you learn faster and give you more motivation as well. GL

Actually a good idea. Luckily I wasn't tired today. :D But I keep that in mind. Always good to keep going.Change don't play when you're feeling tired to, get up out of your chair and run around a bit to get blood flowing every 3+ games and keep playing.

This is how I started (mind you I had a working knowledge of BW, just not of the competitive type):
1: Watched ALOT of pro games
2: Read Liquipedia
3: Picked ONE build to learn first (10/15 Gate)
4: Picked ONE map to learn that build on (Neo Medusa)
5: Played about 20-25 games vs the comp until I was sure I had it memorized.
6: Started on iCCup
7: ???
8: Profit
That pretty much outlines the position I am in at the moment. More just now! This is how I started (mind you I had a working knowledge of BW, just not of the competitive type):

#2 Today's work
-I decided to go for Protoss as I used to play them a lot in my teens and in my one attempt to play on ICCup a year ago.
-I chose Fighting Spirit as my first map to go. I can't explain why I go for it, but I like that map kinda. :D
- First matchup I will practice will be PvZ.
So it is: PvZ @Fighting Spirit
- I decided to learn a FE build with transition into Dragoon/Corsair
- I spent 75 Minutes actually repeatedly executing the BO over and over again, just to get a feel. I also changed around parts of my build to see how that worked out.
- Later I watched D9D #24 (http://day9tv.blip.tv/file/3533930/)which featured Anytime against Hyuk on Fighting Spirit. It didn't help me with my FE built, but showed me some nice 2 Gate into Reaver game to pressure Zerg.
- Also I picked up Day 9's advice and added a note to my screen, which says:
#1 Decide what your mid game should look like
#2 Do 10 games with that plan in mind
#3 Don't deviate
#4 After 10 games make adjustments
#5 repeat steps 2 to 4
#2 Do 10 games with that plan in mind
#3 Don't deviate
#4 After 10 games make adjustments
#5 repeat steps 2 to 4
This is a good place for me to experiment with this FE -> Goon/Sair build and see how I can execute it quite fast.
- I also watched the SPL game between Violet and Action (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-AQZ7jXTUA&feature=player_embedded#!) which ended with Violet's proxy gates being scouted on mid pretty quickly.
- Last but not least I watched Draco vs Sen in the Ro16 of the last TSL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEqWG_8tU0s&feature=player_embedded#!), duking it out on Fighting Spirit.
All in all I have to say that I can execute stuff rather fast but end up without an overall plan and get lost in details too much too quickly. But hey, that was day #1. :D
Cheers,
