Though really, custom icons aren't just handed out on the fly, got to do something outstandingish to get one. yeah, you're acting like a kid asking his daddy to pull the moon down when the reality is everyone wants the moon, but only the ones who do sick amounts of hard work actually get there. TL is not my daddy. TL is a road stop on the information superhighway where I come to relax and contribute in what is an increasingly personalized community of people that I can relate to based on age, education, and interests - I'd like to think of us as equals not divided by class and privilege. TL can thank me for my time, as it can thank its many other loyal users. you can call it whatever you want, my point was that only like 5 people besides the mods have unique icons, so you gotta do something pretty special to earn one. p.s. hope I'm not runing the party or anything. enjoy the 1K anniversary No worries. I was hoping someone would see a cute new icon and say, "Hey we could use more cute shit like this," and I would be more than happy to help refit TL's icons (not to mention the numerous other things wrong with this website). But TL is an immobile beast in the tar, stuck on a dying game and dying traditions. Time to sleep now before I offend the mods. One day we'll have SCII icons, don't worry. Half the charm lies in simplicity.

ha lol you're investigating a way to clear mines w/o obs?
can i list? + Show Spoiler + 1. 2 dragoons move up and back 2. get a dt to stand near it, and it will slash it w/o detection 3. walk a DT up to it and attack on time 4. get a shuttle, unload a unit on top of it, and have goons attack it while unit loads back up 5. get a shuttle, unload a unit on top of it, and as the mine pops time it to the unit loads up w/o hurt 6. sacrifice a unit to clear mines 7. bait one unit to a mine, and enclose that mine so that the mine can't path to that unit, and it will loiter 8. use cannons thats all i can think of

you should get a mine icon when you are warned by an admin.

Only #1 on this list is relevant to general early game, and it is still a very risky maneuver (definitely powerful if you've practiced it, but it helps to know where mines are located in advance). Also, if P wants to break out of an early contain before obs is finished, you might have to clear mines down a ramp (or some other obstruction) or into a collection of mines.
Why I'm considering probes: Probes deal 25% of a spider mine's health in damage (goons do 50%), can mess up pathing, and are never targeted by mines. Probes have a ranged attack in any direction with virtually zero warmup, so they can hit fast-moving mines that try to path around them.
So 2 probes can "soften up" a mine in case one of your dragoons doesn't fire quickly enough.
The only problem so far is that you want to press 'stop' for probes to halt and attack (but you cannot repeat it or you'll delay their attack, 'attack' doesn't work well for this), but you want to press 'hold' for your dragoons simultaneously. You pretty much have to control two close-moving groups in sync, but you can kill mines that you encounter in your path pretty nicely.
