This time I introduce to you an awesome Italian Japanese Pizza joint and a donburi restaurant.
This Zagat recommended pizza place is located in the hip Aoyama district and goes by the name "Pizzeria Napule". Supposedly, the owner of the restaurant "returned victoriously from the 2007 World Cup Pizza Championship" that was held in Naples, Italy.
Between the two of us, we ordered two "half-and-half"s (so we could sample four pizzas). Overall, I still think established pizzerias such as Grimaldi's (Brooklyn) and Pizzeria Delfina (SF) bake better pizza, but Napule offers extremely interesting selections with very strange/creative topping combinations. See for yourselves.
Began with two regular pizzas... nothing strange. Ham, pepper, etc.
Got a little daring... Parsley salad and mullet roe (this was actually my favourite pizza)
Hardcore seafood pizza (the white "cheese" is actually small fish). This was actually very good as well.
For dinner we went to this donburi place in outer tsukiji market, and it was actually a great success:
The donburi:
It's actually called donburi-three-way, as you are supposed to eat it as three separate dishes and they elaborate on top of each other and give you a course meal experience.
(Didn't bother uploading the pictures as they didn't turn out very well):
Course 1: plain no uni
Mix the rice, ikura and chopped fish with soy sauce and wasabi.
Course 2: mixed with uni and pickles
Repeat step 1 with the addition of uni and pickes
Course 3: ochatsuke
Repeat step 2 with hot tea poured over. The hot tea will partially cook the fish and the uni. It was delicious
