I played SC in the early years for fun but was never at a good level of play. Am now laddering in the SC2 beta playing mostly as Terran. I'm going to discuss my learning process on this blog.
This first post is on a ladder game that I just played. It was TvP on Incineration Zone. I'm starting to like that map a lot. I was able to get some good scouting information early and deny my opponent the scout by blocking off. We both went for a ground army build. I decided to go 3 barracks and push out once I had a medivac. This happened at the 9:30 mark with me at 59 food. I was hoping to see an expansion but just met his army at his ramp. We had a little even exchange which ended with me backing off and him chasing my army. We had a long continuous exchange. Unfortunately his army became a bit larger than mine over time and he ended up breaching my base.
I found the loss frustrating since I thought I was doing everything right. Timings on buildings were fine and I was never too high on money. Examining the replay, it is clear that I neglected to create enough SCVs for the mineral line and let the Orbital Command energy build up without using it. At the end of the game, I had only 16 SCVs mining to his 24 probes.
S simple solution, just remember to saturate those mineral patches with 24 SCVs and don't forget the M.U.L.E.
