holy shit, no
the main trio for OSL is terrible at reading games... the MSL crew is waaay more knowledgable about starcraft than the OSL guys
as for PL, they are about even, and it's a different flavor for every day
In PL, both channels use 2 different sets of casters. I know for OGN, the rotation is:
1. Um , Kim Carri, Song
2. Jun, Nal_ra, Kingdom
That's why you get different flavors for different PL games.

The classic OGN trio are classic for a reason imo. Yes, they might not read the games best but they are best at creating dramatic, emotional backdrop. And they have years of experience. I really also like the "alternative" personnel of OGN, which include nalra, kingdom, and sung caster They have this very cynical, dry humor that is really hilarious if you understand korean.
I think the ultimate trio (hypotehtical) would be the glasses guy from MBC (intelligent and best at reading games), Jeon Yong Jun from OGN classic trio (usually at the center, very good delivery and heightens drama) and Um from classic trio (the fat dude, who is really good at creating a sense of story/drama)
So that would be ideal combination for important matches like finals or whatever. For more "relaxed" proleagues, I might also like a funny combination, consisting of Sung caster (from OGN, really smooth delivery and dry wit), Park (from MBC, the really wild one) and Kingdom (who is also pretty comical)
Maybe I've been blind, but don't the OGN commentators do several games and not just SC? I've noticed one of them that does SC, also did Sudden Attack. Heck I know Fox Sports does this, they have one guy who does Football, NASCAR, and I think shows up during some MLB when Nascar -> ESPN.
PS: I'd vote but I don't know Korean to actually tell which commentators are giving me the best commentary. I'd lean OGN, because I'm noticing that I don't care which teams are playing during PL, I'll pick the OGN stream and hope I catch great matches (not always the case.)
I think people on this thread summed up pretty much about my thoughts on OGN and MBC.
OGN talks slightly slower in my opinion. Thus, its slightly easier to translate when I'm watching live games. However, I think they put a little more insight on the game. The main trio started their job (or at least one or two of them) back in 1999 during the Tooniverse league (which eventually changed into OSL), and they have plenty of experience. Although they aren't as exciting as the MBC commentators, their commentaries are insightful.
I don't know how OSL commentators were picked, but I think this maybe the reason why the two channels have slight different style of commentaries. When MBC started to do MSL and eventually Proleague matches, they had a contest for the commentator spot on these respective shows. They wanted someone who was good at commentating but also making the game really exciting. And thus the commentators for the MBC Game were picked this way (as far as I know). Result? I'm not too sure about their commentaries in terms of insightfulness. They surely lack the brains compared to OSL commentators (well, experience is always better). However, they bring the excitement to the game, including the infamous 'GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG' and the fake recall. They talk fast however, and its slightly harder to translate MBC games compared to OSL.
mbc commentators are cute and do a good job, but lately OGN has been matching them intensity-wise with their kingdom/nalra combo, they sound like they're speaking rabidly in tongues when they're casting together, and in terms of strategic detail ogn's always been a bit more in-depth than MBC's... so I'd give the edge to OGN. However, even though Shark isn't an announcer i think he does a great job for them in the two or three shows he's in and overall I think MBC's sideshows are better than OGN's.
Commentary is a really underappreciated aspect of VOD watching, they all do a tremendous job- considering a lot of the time it's like drawing blood from a stone.
My favourite caster is Park Sang Hyun because he's witty and natural and I think IntotheRain is the best former progamer to commentate, they have great chemistry together. I also think TheMarine and Garimto were much better than Nal_rA and Kingdom, as much as I love them all Nal_rA's voice is too monotone at times and Kingdom is too much over the top. And Yooi is too whiny. Recently Yoo Byung Joon has finally filled the void left by Kim Dong Jin for the MBCGame trio.
Lee Seung Won is the best analyst by far, his voice is awesome and he sends shivers down my spine every time with his ghastly predictions,
In this famous scene only 10 seconds earlier Lee Seung Won says "oov must be wary of zealot bombs, thats what Reach is looking to exploit"
MBC > OGN in my books. Just because...I dunno. Their voices sound really nice imo for commentating. OGN isn't that bad, but I dunno...I really like the commentary given my MBC a lot more...
anyway, kind of off-topic: is it possible to download the annotations (the ones that show the english translation) of youtube videos -- the crazy mbc commentator vids are hilarious!!
