Fuck.
I went from tapping 5th in copper, feeling as if I've accomplished something, to being knocked back on my ass on 11th place. Honestly, I wasn't planning to hit platinum overnight, but nearly tasting my way into Bronze (legitimately) just makes me slightly nervous.
Now, I say "legitimately" because I'm the OCD type of person who disgustingly enjoys starting from the bottom and working their way up. Whenever I purchase a game, I try working my way through the campaign completely before feeling accomplished. (Which is probably why I've been to scared to play both sc2 AND FFXII.)
Anyway. I guess I just needed to vent. This game's consumed more than just my time, obviously.
GL to everyone else struggling with the ladder climb. I'm sure you're all much better off ;}
***[EDIT]***[05/07/10 @ 07:12AM]*** Lol, I did it! Thanks to everyone's replies, advice, tips, and support.

To those of you who took the time to answer my questions and offer tips... Thank you! I truly appreciate it. [/spoiler]

Cool to hear there's people low down giving sc2 a crack and trying to climb up, i salute you buddy, gl in your climb, bronze isnt far away =].
|
I wish i losed my placement matches on purpose, rank 100th something in Gold for THE LOSE
FFXII is a AWESOME game btw, you gotta play/beat it
|
just remember to never stop building workers! macro macro macro!
since copper level players build like 14 workers max just out mass him. scout well and you'll be fine! i promise you!
|
|
i cant even imagine being in copper/solver at all, i don't even know how to get there lol.
|
@Ftrunkz thanks, man. i've watched the sc1 scene go by without me while i sit around with my thumb up my ass. there's no fucking way i'm letting it go again.
@KinosJourney2 i met a lot of people doing that, actually. a lot of gold and plat members just bored out of their minds with nothing to do. BUT, 100 in Gold is way better than 5th in copper and FFXII is fucking amazing. which is why i can't play it alongside this damn beta.
@spoolinoveryou thanks for the tip! i've been on the worker binge for a while now, it's actually what has saved my ass a couple times. my scouting probably needs to be a tad bit better... thanks again!

I aced through placement matches and now playing silver. A lot of ex-wow fags complaining about how boring this game is. Glad to see some one didn't give up.
|
@deL how does what work?
@NiGoL oh well you just suck pretty hard like me, OR ... throw all your placement matches and get placed there.
@haduken the 2nd time around i managed to get into bronze, took a small break b/c of work and RL shit, this last reset placed me in copper. ex-wow fags can suck a nut. this game is not for them.
|
I am an old wow fan and I want to give it a try (even thought I would probably be stuck in copper league) But i don't have a key
|
@ InfernoX aww, well i'm sure if you're hanging around here, you're a bit more serious than the majority of those assholes. i also used to play wow, but tbh, it was all b/c there was nothing else to play. now.. there is! good luck on the search for a key

this describes me perfectly lol. feels alot better when you do it though :D keep going!
edit: only with bw though, i dont get that deep into other games :/

lol i thought bronze was lowest league...there's copper? oh wait...what's better bronze or copper..they both sounds equally cheap...-_-
|
Glad to see someone actually trying to work their up, reminds me when I was a D on Iccup. GL, and if you ever need help to practice, just add Browney.Halo. I can explain some stuff to you, if you need it.

Well you obviously haven't been playing long, so don't feel too down. There's lots of players who took years to reach an average skill in SC:BW, and SC2 isn't a whole lot easier. With match making it should help considerably, and don't forget to watch the user streams(especially featured ones) for your race to pick up on things. There's lots of guides on TL for improving that go over what your mindset should be and what your goals should be like, so make sure you take the time to look through the forums and find some of them. GL to everyone else struggling with the ladder climb. I'm sure you're all much better off ;} Good on you not giving up! I'd advise you to first focus on keeping your money down by making simply as many lower tier units as possible and keep attacking him with those, until you get the hang of macroing, and after that you can start learning strategies
|
Just remember to keep macroing! Keep making workers and keep spending all your money no matter what it's on. Watch a lot of high end tournaments/streams to see what high level players do also. And just keep on going, I'm sure within no time you'll have significantly improved if you just keep playing. ^_^ The most satisfying feeling is those times where you stop and realize you actually have improved over X amount of time. It's such a good feeling. Good luck!
|
I was copper last reset, now high golg if that even means anything. Go on a winning streak and it matches you vs higher and higher ranks/leagues.
|
Don't get discouraged. Use the time you have in the lower ranks to get comfortable with every race and to learn hotkeys and build orders. I rushed to get good at one of the races and I'm kinda regretting it now that I wanna try out the other two (my experiments with off-races have been comically short). glhf
