Anyhoo, I am 7-1 so far.I said I was a "new player" so it gave me 5 practice games before placement games. I chose random for the placement games. First practice game was a PvT, and the terran surrendered in the first few seconds, or got disconnected or something. I kept playing so I could explore the tech tree (did the same thing for the first games with the other races as well). Then I won a ZvZ with Ling/Roach/Muta mostly. Then I won a TvZ with Marauder/Thor (I really like that combo so far ). Lost a TvP to a Void Ray rush, and that build became my PvT strat . I then won another TvZ with Marauder/Thor. Before going into placement matches, I played a PvZ against the computer to practice a few things (mainly Void Ray rushing). So far in placement matches, I've gone 3-0. All of them were PvT with Void Ray / Zealot. The first game, Void Ray / Zealot won on the first push. After that game, the first push has always failed and I've had to macro back up and mix in Immortals. I have about 30 APM. I have 40 in Brood War usually... Doesn't stop me from beating ~180 APM Terrans in BW .
My handle is Touched.pyrrhuloxia
Anyway, since I hope to be a game designer soon, I'll probably mess around with the editor a ton. I have the start for a game design document for a mod I'd like to make.
The game scales beautifully; I'm playing it on my four-year-old laptop with no probs. I think the game looked better when I turned a few things down in options. I believe turning the shaders to the lowest settings made the Protoss buildings look a lot more "Protossy" or at least "Brood Warry" because they looked more Yellow and more matte. They also seemed to make everything "pop" more.
