*NEED LOWERPING SUBSCRIPTION*
Ok so after some testing with the people from lowerping they have finally released a client that supports SC2 beta! Reduces the delay by ALOT (for me at least) im sure alot of you guys that are experiencing a little delay will appreciate the reduced delay this gives you.
People who use Lowerping for World of Warcraft should know what type of reduced delay to expect.
Instructions: Download V1.5 here http://lowerping.com/?p=16 1. Unzip/extract. (you don't need to install it if you already have a different lp installed) 2. Open Lowerping or Lowerping.exe 3. Pick server (WEST COAST SERVERS) enter your lowerping user/pass. (NOT YOUR BATTLENET ACCOUNT) 4. Click Wow/Aion -> Black box should appear 5. Open Starcraft 2 normally.
If you want to double check: Hop into game jump into a game vs computer, Close the black box, You should get disconnected from the map.

??? i haven't really seen barely any lag on SC2 =P

this almost sounds like a scam to get user/pw

Unfortunately there are a few people with delay on it i know i do, living in australia is lame gaming wise!
Regardless, i know quiet a few people who live in the US and use lowerping to cut their delay/latency even further (this is in world of warcraft btw)

No no, thats not ur user name and pw, thats the lowerping user name and pw. Lowerping is a paid service, u get a user name and pw given once u pay

Not scam. Blizz is ok with this as well.
battleping is free fyi

"Through various routing techniques and network tweaks through the use of proxy servers, LOWERPING has managed to provide nearly the same latency that those near the relative gaming servers experience for those that are half-way across the world. In addition, the applications also set a Nodelay setting so that the data that you are sending to a server is transferred straight away instead of having to wait to be grouped up before been sent."
This is an impossible scam.
|
It is possible to reduce latency by using rerouting proxies if your ISP has bad routing, in most cases the benefit is minimal but for some routes it can make an improvement.
|
Nearly all serious Aussie WoW players use a service like this, lowerping being probably the most expensive one. I don't know if you were talking about USA players but it is not a minimal improvement for us, it can easily cut 200-300ms off your average ping. I haven't felt it necessary for SC2.
|
So whats the ping like when u use this program ?
When I was playing war3 connected to uswest I was getting 170 ping on good days - during peak it would shoot up to 200.
|
I notice a huge difference using lowerping.
Usually my connection is really shit, I don't know why but I get huge lag spikes of 0.5-1s every few seconds. If I use lowerping I get none of this, and my ping is around 180-210 consistantly.
|
You can just do that tcp-ack registry fix that's always floating around, instead of downloading and installing software. Much lighter that way.
|
can mod or forum leader check validity
|
This only works if you have an unusual high ping.
|
why are only posters with less than a hundred posts the people claiming that these lowerping shit is good for all of us?
That says enough to me, scam or not, i will not follow a 3 poster advise on my gaming xperience, nor in my software usage.
just checked, you even have to pay for it. This is advertising...

I use Lowerping and can confirm that this is not a scam. It reduces my delay from about 350-400 ms to 150-200 ms (I used FRAPS to test this). The way it works is by routing you through a proxy (a Lowerping owned server), so there is absolutely no way to emulate this with OS "fixes". You need to be routed through a proxy, which is most likely going to be via a paid service.
I don't know if this particular service works for people outside of Australia, but it's almost guaranteed to have little to no effect for anyone residing in the US as you are already close to the Blizzard servers.
I live in Australia and the change in delay is very noticable. I'll know straight away if I forgot to enable Lowerping before I start playing.
Edit: If you have any understanding about networking though, then you will know that results using a service like this will vary drastically.
FYI, I only bought one month just to test if it actually did anything. People are saying battleping is free so I am going to try that now!

using battleping since it doesn't require any sort of payment after x amount of time
|
You know it's free to try right? You'll just get kicked off after ~40-60 min. Try it for yourself. Don't notice a difference? Don't buy it...
Note, it's really meant for Aus or nearby region players. It's unlikely you'll notice any difference if you are relatively close to the servers.
|
This is just good for when you have bad routing, right? So US players shouldn't benefit much at all. My friend used this for Aion, and he said it made a big difference. So I think this kinda thing does indeed have its uses. But I can't imagine that me as an Oregon resident would benefit much from this. The SC2 server for US is in California, right?
