I finally have SC2 (For a brief time. Thanks Megalisk!) It finished downloading today and right now im trying getting use to it by playing vs nothing. Its pretty hard to get use to >_>... The graphics are fine at lowest and its the only way i can play sc2 lol. The retarded hotkeys... fuck how will i ever get use to marine as a when m was perfectly comfortable It really is a whole new game T__T... I didnt play against pubs yet cuz i would barely make it into silver league (-_- gold league) I only tested out Terran once and im posting this blog because of how hard it was to test out the game. I just want to know how many people were thrown off by the game and how hard it was to get use to the game. + Show Spoiler [Were you thrown off by the game when y…] +Poll: Were you thrown off by the game when you first played?Yes (20) 65% No (11) 35% 31 total votes Your vote: Were you thrown off by the game when you first played? of course the first few times will be confusing, just play more. There's nothing to be ashamed of being put in the bronze copper silver league0

i got into gold because mbs is hard to get used to terrans really have too many types of buildings, its so annoying
but also cuz of speedling all-ins on backdoors you forget about

It's not that bad, really. After the ladder reset, I got placed in silver and I worked my way up to gold and then platinum.
Experiment and find out what works in each MU.

I remember when I played SC2 at a LAN cafe and I just massed rines until I figured out that marauders were good.
|
Playing it for the first time did throw me off again. I mean, the hotkey changes completely fuck with my Brood War knowledge. Probes and Pylons are now 'e', and not 'p'? That throws off my entire BW setup, where I would have my starting nexus at '0'.
But after I played a bit more, it didn't take long till I got used to it.

ahaha the sc:bw hotkeys threw me off big thang there. the only problem i have is the unit dying animation takes too long im clicking and TRYING to micro a marine thats already dead -_-
|
I can't tell you how many times in one game I grab my probe and go B P.... B P.... B P.... WHAT'S GOING ONNNNN? ARGHHHH PYLON!

I've gotten a bit use to it after a week, but some stuff I just can't seem to easily get used to. I play Terran, so siege/unsiege is so weird.
Also, was so used to M for pumping rines, and generally pumping units based on the first letter of unit. M for rines, F for firebats, W for wraiths. But unit production in SC2 is counter-intuitive albeit simpler since it's all within WASD. Still though, A for rines, D for marauders/medivacs, S for tanks, E for hellions AND banshees? fuck hell. my fingers get all twisted when I'm trying to macro.

It took me like 2 days to memorize most of the new hotkeys, and I've been playing SC:BW for almost 10 years now (first introduction to the game at least). It really isn't that hard if you're somewhat serious about it...
The only complaint I have is the "i" hotkey for the Immortal. I mean, the hell did Blizz optimize everything (probes, pylons, marine) to the left side of the keyboard, only to leave Immortals this way? I always click "u" and "o" when I want to make one (hence I sucked playing T in SC1, I could never siege up / lay mines properly due to simply missing the hotkey every now and then).
^ This is a huge blunder, especially considering the German version (or so I heard) comes with built-in qwert asdfg zxcvb hotkeys according to the unit's place in the right side GUI. Which would, again, be uncomfortable to me (judging by the limited experience I had with SoaSE), but still. I demand a "t" hotkey for the Immortal!

Ahh.. I remember my first day of beta.. TvP so I went mech and was like "OMG WAT" when it failed hard.

Dunno about easiest matchup, depends on who you play, but the most fun is definitely TvZ.
But I wish they'd cheapen the zerg units. Die faster, cost less, swarm like the insects you're supposed to be, dammit.
|
I lost my first placement match zvt because I didn't know overlords couldn't detect anymore, I was SO mad. The hotkeys only took a few games to get used to, wasn't really a big deal, although I have yet to use MBS as zerg, I just use one hotkey per hatch..feels better that way for me. I'm back to Bw though, cause I just can't quite "get into" sc2, though I still watch most of the tournies.

I still haven't really gotten into T/P, they feel and play pretty differently. Z, my main race, is incredibly similar though, hotkeys, units and play style are almost the same.
|
when i try to play scbw i will try for like 15 seconds to make an overlord with the sc2 hotkey
or accidentally build 3 units with 1 press of the button
|
My first time playing sc2 was when I borrowed my friend's laptop while he just joined a game. but I was in a novice map and was like wtf when rocks were blocking my way lol... but sc2 is really easy to pick up and i instantly got the feel of it

man i find it so hard to macro in sc2. or maybe its just me getting distracted by the graphics. i find myself always using the zoom function
