Alright, so you've decided to get your lazy ass ripped and ready for battle a la Spartacus. Well, that's all fine and dandy but there is that little elusive component that drives most of nuts at least at some point.
I call it "the mindset". Which means the mindset necessary to have in order to push the boundaries of your physical self and go beyond your perceived limitations. Also, you will need to focus and actually GO TO THE GYM. Having a proper mindset is essential for anything that requires a substantial amount of ambition, and it's what separates the winners from the loosers in this regard.
I consider myself having quite a strong mind when it comes down to it, and particularly so with weight lifting for some reason. I believe in making things a habit, and where that line is drawn is up for debate but I've seen people talking about 21 days and what not.
Anyways, making weightlifting and proper nutrition a habit is very important in order to actually accomplish something. I like to use what a therapist I know calls "the marine corps mentality". Basically you just get in there and get it done, how you feel doesn't matter. If you're tired doesn't matter. If you got other things you "should" do (stop lying to yourself) doesn't matter.
Let all those thoughts occupy your mind while you get moving and go to the gym. Pretty zen-ish mindset if you will. Interestingly enough I've found that almost always when I think that I don't have the energy or will to do a good workout a particular day, I end up slaying the weights once I pull myself to the gym.
I will keep this pretty short and up for edit, because I may add more. Also I'm on my way to the gym =)
some tips from the coach:
1)This may sound ridiculous but wear a umm...I dunno what it's called in America, but you know like a male version of a tank top? Basically a shirt with no sleeves? The reason for this is that I've noticed that I perform way better in the gym and find it much more fun when I can cast a glance at my bare arms and shoulders in the mirror (don't flex in an obvious way). It's motivating to see the pump! Don't be embarrased if you're small, no one really cares lol
2)Visualize yourself lifting weights with confidence and joy. I always do this when I'm about to sleep and have closed my eyes. I see myself at the gym putting on more weights than last time and dominating that iron! Make it a habit to think of this while falling asleep and it will easier become a habit to work out.
3)First, realize that anyone can get a killer body, even you. With that in mind, look at pictures of both women and men with super bodies and feel joyous at the fact that you are walking the same path (if that is your goal). Especially hot women can motivate me like nothing else, but also males with athletic, symmetrical bodies (lol). It's simply beautiful.
4)Be totally focused when actually lifting weights. Each set is super important! Be in the moment, feel the right muscle group connect with the weights and pump that iron!

Me myself is walking the path of julyzerg ... :p

My school banned those male tank tops (wife-beaters they're called), if you wanted to work out you were not allowed to show any skin.
I will start to look good naked when I can afford it, right now joining a gym is not possible.

For many people mindset probably is one of the biggest factors in doing what's necessary to get fit so I appreciate this blog... although I generally don't understand the goal of getting a 'SICK' body so much as just getting into shape in general... but that's me.

I don't think you need a gym to get into shape... just to reach the higher end of results in some aspects that can't be achieved otherwise...

I would like to contribute to this great blog with a free thats right FREE resource that will cost you absolutely NOTHING thats right folks no money involved here just a free gift by this team called the 100 push ups.http://hundredpushups.com/
basically its a 6+ week program to achieve great upper body strength and do 100 push ups consecutively its absolutely awesome would definitely recommend to anyone who doesn't have the time/money to join a gym or people like me who find it difficult to get out of the house to walk to the gym. Personally around week 4-5 I've seen some slight but significant results and still working at it anyways give it a go, you never know!
