Regardless of what tech choice the opponent has, Roaches or hydras or mutas has been good or decent against everything. Hence you've been able to mass one unit and get away with it most of the time, which makes for a very boring army composition. Nerfing the general purpose units for zerg had to be done in order to add some diversity, frankly I want them to have even more of a niche role (mutas, hydras and roaches). Compare this to P for example. If he goes Robo and Colossus and you go Mutas, it's GG right there for him. If he goes Stargate and you go hydras, it's GG as well. This means that Protoss generally have to make a very diversed army. Most often a Zealot, sentry, stalker, immortal and observer/warp prism/probe push, all whilst the Zerg just had one kind of unit. Those general purpose units have to be nerfed to some degree to make for a more interesting army composition. I still think it is a mistake of Blizzard to remove a very unique unit such as the Lurker though, since it plays completely different from anything else the Zerg has. This. There is no wrong tech choice since there are basically only 3 anyways. This problem just stems from a lack of zerg units to choose from to begin with. All these people loling that zerg have plenty of options need to show me replays of them winning with it said options. Zerg is so ez that you should be able to do it easily right?

Haha by that do you mean a lot of reactionary whining before anyone's played a representative number of games with the new patch?

Err ... Neural Parasite is range 7, which beats most units ... excepting Tanks and Colossi (with range upgrade), but even against those it should work very well if people stop using Infestors as part of their one control group of units and treat it more like a sniper who needs to shoot from cover. All the worker icons in this thread have basically already made this thread GG.net'ish Someones post count doesn't determine their worth as a poster, there are plenty of posters who have tons of posts who whine and cry like idiots. The baneling bombing run is something that lots of people have been doing, or at least I've seen and done it in quite a few games. Its just like any other drop, but when it works right its very spectacular for sure. I think if they came out with the direction they want the races to take from now till the end of beta it would clear up a bit of peoples confusion over changes. Honestly I'm surprised how balanced the game feels already.

Think this is because they are slow adapting or is Zerg actually a bit weaker than the other races now? Likely both. Zerg game play revolves around 4 core units more or less. Ling, roach hydra, muta are about 95% or more of what you're going to make all game . The mid game 'meat' units (roach and hydra) both got decent sized nerfs which drastically change the way that zerg can deal with light damage (roaches) and heavy damage (hydras). It's a no brainer that zerg are going to start losing more, regardless of how creative or quick to adapt they are, because those are core units. When you nerf core units to be less efficient then you get worse as a race, period. However, that doesn't mean that the old play style is still the best play style, and if that's all that people still do, then they have no chance to get past the nerfs. A lot of players are exploring other builds and army comps (to the extent that you can when you have a limited pool to draw from) and that itself is also leading to some losses since even if those strats prove to be viable long term, they're not exactly polished right now. It may turn out that zerg can do fine without massing roaches and hydras, or that they need to adapt build orders or timings to win. IMO it is impossible to say for sure that zerg are worse than the other two races right now, only that they are definitely worse than they were before the patch.

Good reply. It will be interesting to see how top Z-players respond and adapt.
