Update to my last blog post.
Up to episode 87 in One Piece dubbed anime. This show keeps on getting better and better, no real slow-down, everything seems to constantly build on the past and the plot just becomes stronger and stronger. They just convinced some reindeer/teddy-bear combo guy to join their crew as their doctor as Nami got sick. Also the Blackbeard pirates get mentioned; really want to see them as they are a small five man crew who wiped out all of Drum Island. Also their silhouettes looked baller.
Bleach, especially soul-society arc, still slightly ahead of One Piece but OP is making strong strides. May have to revise favorite manga/anime soon if One Piece keeps improving as it has.
Hopefully Luffy or someone else gets a power-up soon, there haven't been any yet and while that keeps the plot from being the usual "lose-> power-up given -> win -> stronger bad guy introduced" repetitive style it at some point is necessary to avoid monotony. Unless they plan on adding crew members forever.

The problem with Bleach was that it was ONLY good through the Soul Society arc and than went downhill, whereas One Piece has steadily maintained or increased its quality with occasional slight dips (which are still superior to anything Bleach/Naruto have come out with in like... 3 years.)

I tried watching subbed anime but it was terrible. I know where you are coming from, though, as I only watch subbed Bleach and can't stand the dubbed one. I think it has to do with what you are originally introduced to: you fall in love with the characters and their quirks, and when the voices change, whether going to or from dubbed/Japanese versions, it seems different and not the same. Japanese Luffy sounds so horrible.

I mean, I see your side of it as well. I originally watched Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and DBZ dubbed back when that shit was on Cartoon Network, and later on when I watched some subbed episodes of said series, I was like "wtf". It does feel weird.
I kinda feel that you owe it to yourself to watch the subbed version though. You'll get used to it and start to like it. You are only like 1/6th of the way in so far and it'll be worth it when you get passed the point where they have dubbed. Like episode 160 or so? Out of 460+. Not to mention that the 4kids dub (the first 100 or so episodes) are like the worst things ever supposedly. They also spliced/cut shit so that those 100 episodes cover like 150 actual episodes. The Funimation dub from that point on is supposed to be better but meh.

I will have to watch everything that came out so far, but since youve just mentioned they dont get major "power-ups".. someone was saying how OP characters always improve and gain new abilities.. i guess this wasnt true? are we doomed to watch a dumb resin guy fight with bare hands for atleast 400 more eps? how is this better than naruto?

Wow, that is so true. I always thought that the japanese voices for all anime was better, but at the same time thought that the japanese voice for goku in DBZ was way too effeminate (because I grew up watching DBZ in america, I suppose). But I can't say I've watched (favorably) the american versions of bleach, naruto, or one piece.
But let me tell you something, one piece is the best! you will see (if you keep watching) why other animes/ manga like bleach and naruto can't keep up.

They haven't had any power-ups and I'm at episode 87. As far as I can tell their fighting abilities are the same as episode 1, not stronger at all.
Bleach, by comparison, has constant power-ups and measurable growth. Episode 1 and episode 20 Ichigo are completely different levels, as is episode 40 ichigo and episode 60 ichigo.
edit: Luffy did learn some windmill type arm movement when fighting Arlong, but he hasn't used it since and it didn't seem to be a power-up so much as just some equally strong rubberman move. Zoro also got two new swords, one legendary and the other cursed but of great quality, but I haven't noticed him being any stronger. Not really power-ups at all.

besides, naruto / bleach have fallen into the pits of becoming way too cliche, predictable, and falling into the same pattern of powerup- fight- lose - cry on someone's shoulder - become buffer than before - etc. I'm just spontaneously losing interest in both series.

They do gain new fighting moves and improve on existing ones. They get stronger as well. My "power-up" mention is in reference to DBZ/Bleach like "level-ups". There really is only one such level-up in One Piece in my opinion at least.

I also don't necessarily argue that One Piece has ALWAYS been superior to Naruto and Bleach. Both of them were quite good in the beginning. The problem is that their quality has significantly declined whereas One Piece quality has improved. In the case of Naruto, most of the interesting characters have been ditched (Shikamaru, etc) in place of 100% focus on Naruto/Sasuke. Oh and crazy deus ex machina's thrown around everywhere. Bleach is DBZ v2 as mentioned above.
In the early episodes of One Piece much of the focus is on Luffy yes. The other crew members get more and more screen time as the series progresses. So fights get more varied and more interesting. The bosses are less ..... "gay" as well. I'm looking at you Buggy.
One Piece really picks up when + Show Spoiler [very minor/general spoiler] + they head to the Grand Line, as the Baroque Works/Arabasta arcs are the first major "saga".

im sure all those other guys in naruto will be coming back, they wouldnt introduce them for nothing. Remember how everyone's abilities were explained in detail, everyone developed his own unique skill. All the different fighting styles, there has to be some use for that later on( at least i hope) Rock Lee, Neji, Shikamaru.. And it is at least logical compared to OP, Luffy just has this ability to punch through any kind of armor/unbreakable thing just because he is awesome? And many things happen randomly, something "lucky' happens and everyone is saved
i dont know, i loved naruto recently, it has gotten really epic ever since sasuke killed orochimaru.. But im looking forward to watching more OP, i love long series( watched 59 eps in 4 days lol)

They dont really get powerups(like new moves or w/e) in OP for a while but they do get stronger. You notice this from their opponents gradually getting stronger and tougher to beat as well as their bounty's raising up. Luffy does come up with some special abilities later on though, obviously

where are you up to in the one piece manga? it gets really good, like its way better than naruto and bleach imo. anyways anything OP deserves 5/5 :D

while thats true to an extent i dont regret having watched any of the episodes for all three of them at all, because im genuinely interested to see how the characters react in as many situations as possible and i dont want to miss part of the plot which might get used later on.
there also only was exactly one arc for the three series combined which i didnt like + Show Spoiler +which was the moria thriller bark arc for one piece for the curious folks out there
just yesterday manga chapters one piece#580, naruto#489 and bleach#398 from the recet issue of shonen jump were released and the events right now are more amazing than ever through the last weeks, for all three of the series at the same time, especially the last two chapters.
i do agree though that one piece seems to have been more continuous with the quality of the show than naruto and bleach.
naruto was pretty good in the beginning when you were still learning about the universe it is set in and got better till the zabuza arc, and then got somewhat worse, but not too much at all and picked up the pace again with the introduction of shippuuden.
bleach is a little strange. it appears as a completely different anime from what it actually is in the beginning (episodes 1-15 are like toying around) and you dont start watching "real" bleach until the beginning of the soul society arc with episode 16. but that one completely drew me in. i wanted to know how everything goes that i just watched 50 episodes nonstop at that point.
while one piece, just as mentioned in this thread, gradually builds everything up. crew number, crew strength, the way the characters deal with situations through the experiences that they make etc. i dont think that it ever felt that kind of "weak" at any point at all like the other series at times, except from that one arc that disappointed me kind of a lot + Show Spoiler +but that might just be because you cant beat getting lost crewmembers back, getting one new crewmember to join while going against cipher pol and the world gov all at the same time so easily, lol. not with someone like moria anyways
regarding dub/sub:
dub will put you behind on the level of experience of the voice actors. voice actors in japan are pros because the market for voice acting simply is a lot bigger there than anywhere else in the world. its the same with "real" actors and hollywood. so apart from localization and translation issues and having stuff cut from the show you also get somewhat mediocre actors only and that simply cant lead to as good a product as they have with the original except for some lucky cases. just compare the voice actors for bleach in the original and the american version. hitsugaya anyone? its hilarious and sad at the same time.
but anyways, the only thing i wanted to tell you is that in the end,
you probably wont have much choice but to switch from dub to sub to manga very soon if you like how one piece is going now. i know i did, because i wanted to know what happens next so badly, and im still bothered by the 1 week wait for the next manga chapter to be released even though im watching and reading several series at this point.
i was always like "meh, manga is only b/w and you need to concentrate on stuff compared to just watching a movie" and never bothered, but there are really good sites out there (mangareader, mangafox etc) and once 1 of the series was exciting enough to "force" me to read up how the events would continue i eventually had to do it for all of them.

It is most apparent with Zoro, when you see his big fights in future arcs. Though like what has been said, there is one legit "power up" in One Piece, but you are a while away from it.
Also, you are setting yourself up for disappointment with the dub. IMO, the Funimation Dub is fine, except for the fact that there are like 300 episodes that haven't been dubbed yet, and climbing.

actually i think it is more like 2 powerups, for luffy at least. if zoro gets the other one he will have two as well.+ Show Spoiler +gears+haki for luffy and "flying sword strike" for zoro and im pretty confident he will also get haki, if he doesnt already have something like it. aaaand im also very very hopeful that luffy will actually get another "powerup" of some kind, because something in my memory tells me that he was just "playing" pirate up till now and never serious, so i hope that we will see him 'grow up' to be less absent minded (more like ace) when he recovers and wakes up from the battle at marineford

+ Show Spoiler +Haki will probably be the next Luffy power-up, but Luffy hasn't mastered that, as of now. Also, what do you mean about his "flying sword strike"? You mean that ranged attack he came up with in Skypeia? If so, I don't really count that as a power up.

I would assume he means his 36/72/108 pound cannon attacks. So yeah the one he first developed in Skypiea. I also would not count that as a power up in the sense of Luffy's Gears. If anything, Zoro's power up would be when he became able to cut steel with his Iai techniques.
