Hi, this is my first blog and i wanted to get help from tl community. Im planning on buying a laptop i have low budget and i need it for MS office mostly. i was thinking about dell inspiron 1464 but.. is it a good choice? will it run sc2? its not that important but it would be nice to play sc2 on my free time in school. well that's all =)

dell inspiron is a great laptop. me gusta.
runs sc2 but not without minor lag problems. i was able to ladder though so its recommendable.

anything in the world will run MS Office. Do you have any requirements? How much $? Screen size?

that's nice i think im gonna buy it i dont really care about minor lag problems i always ran games in low specs pc's so im used to it. thanks for your help mOnion

well here in south america it is kinda $870 so it is my budget, buying a laptop in usa is not an option screen size i dont care about it

i just got my inspiron 1545 last week it's nice and was really cheap ($611 CAD including taxes and a 9-cell battery) but it's a little fragile (flexes quite a bit when the edges are squeezed) and both the interior and exterior absorb fingerprints like mad SC2 plays at about 20FPS on lowest settings and gets pretty choppy (i just have intel 4 series mobile integrated graphics)

get something that doesn't have an intel integrated card and you'll be able to run sc2 on lowest at least whether its ati hd 3200 or nvidea 8000/9000 series if your going with dell than i might suggest the studio 14 which comes with a 9400 gs which performs significantly better than the x4500 from intel

If all you want to do is run MS Office, you can go significantly lower budget and get one of the cheapest laptops/netbooks. I wouldn't recommend trying to play the game at 20 fps and lower, which is what you would get with a laptop with integrated graphics like the popular Intel GMA X4500. I say either forget about playing SC2 on the laptop or go for a cheaper laptop with discrete graphics.
The Inspiron 1464 with the ATI Mobility 4330 would run the game fine, but I noticed that a Studio 14z with the Nvidea 9400M is cheaper and would also run the game very well on lowest. The 1464 does have a much newer and better processor though, but wouldn't matter running MS Office and SC2 on low settings.

and what about the Acer As7736zg would you prefer it against the dell inspiron??
