There is no more depth to my blog than its title.
I simply needed to say, I love Starcraft 2.
I've only played about 70 games, and i've yet to play a game as Zerg or Protoss, and who knows if my opinion will change at the 200 game mark or the 700 game mark. But for now, it's simply and purely, unadulterated love.
I've not been this excited over a game in a long long long time. Since Starcraft 1. And while i loved Starcraft 1 (and still do) the excitement of it probably died about about 7 years ago.
When i close my eyes, i see banshees and marauders and hellions. When i'm sitting on the can, i invent new rushes to employ. When i'm having sex it's to give my mind a brief release from the ecstasy that is Starcraft 2. The only purpose of sleep is to rejuvenate my body enough to engage once again, and 3-4 hours accomplishes that adequately.
I did not leave my work last night, as the time needed to travel home and back again is a wasted 30 minutes. I'm thinking about bringing a pillow next time i come to work, as at least my head should have some respite from the apathetic floor. Then again, comfort is for pussies.
I went to sleep ranked 7th in div13 platinum and woke up 9th. I have some work to do tonight.
Get Ready, SC2 beta. I am coming.

from my experience you cannot have the same kind of excitement on a game that you're working on than a game you are not.
When i see COH, i see all the things that could have been better if i had been given more time, a bigger budget, if i had fought harder or knew how to communicate better. I see the discrepency between intentions and result.
I absolutely love COH and after 4 years of being on it, and i'm still not even remotely bored nor find it stale. This would not be possible if it was not a great game.
But Starcraft is a virgin to me. I do not know her past, nor what her lofty goals were. I do not know if she surprised her makers or let them down. She's fascinating and immense, and i will penetrate her depths.

SC2 does seem to lack depth atm... compared to Broodwar. In general though it is amazing and very fun to play. I have been enjoying it.

can you elaborate on this a little more please?
the 'depth' behind Starcraft wasn't discovered until several years after its inception. We're not even through SC2's beta and people are already making these kinds of bold claims.
I certainly can't tell you whether Starcraft 2 has more depth or not. I'd have a hunch that it's not as deep, but i certainly couldn't cite evidence of it seeming that way.

People are just figuring out SC2 a lot faster because of the huge availability of replays and, more importantly, the experienced community sharing their knowledge with each other. Sites like teamliquid are already well established and there are a lot more people playing and developing the game competitively.
Does this mean no RTS will ever have the longevity (what most people mean when they say "depth") of SC1? Maybe, but of course it's far too early to say.
This is coming from someone who dislikes SC2 in general by the way.
