So today I finally got around to cleaning it up a little bit more (can't be too careful when you're going to be ripping rare and expensive tapes) and I ripped 2 albums after running some more tests.
The first album was completely fine.
During the ripping process of the second album however, I noticed some horrid squeaking. I had no idea what it was, but I just let it keep going and finish ripping.
So then I put in 1 more album and really just couldn't stand the squeaking.
So I poked around inside and found out there's a problem with the capstan or something behind it. When I power the deck on it gives that horrible squeak from deck A in the general area of the capstan. From the inside of the deck I didn't really learn much. I've noticed that 3 parts in the area of the squeaking, including the capstan, move when I power it on.
One of them is a belt, the other's a little circle thing.. I don't know the name. But it seems to be linked to the belt in one way or another. It might be this "FLYWHEEL AS" identified in my service manual. I don't have scans of the manual unfortunately.
Either way after a bunch of mostly-useless information, I must ask; does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
TL;DR horrible screetching in my cassette deck around capstan area, what do
thx^^
Edit; forgot to mention that the capstan rotates just fine. the belt moves fine as well.
