I've never had a gramophone, turntable, etc. I've been looking into them a little but that's beside the point, because I've a 7" promo that I'd like to test the waters with. And by that I mean I wanna see if I can keep it from warping by the time I get a turntable/preamp in 2 months or so.. But really I don't wanna purposely fuck this up, so, can any of you give me some tips on storage? I'm really completely clueless on how to store it properly.

The main thing is to keep dust and humidity away. To this end, storing them in a large plastic bag should do the trick (each record separately)

'Cos I can't find any way to stand it vertically if that would be better.

As for storage: heat and cold are obviously bad, as is humidity. Also obvious: don't store your records in horizontal stacks because pressure can warp them and ruin jackets. I don't think plastic sleeves are necessary, but if you have old records you may want to replace their sleeves (old sleeves might be saturated with dirt and oils).

For infos on this, check YouTube or, if you're serious about vinyl, try to get your hands on the documentary It's a Vinyl World After All, which will teach you pretty much everythin there is to know about it. Well, this is a load off my mind. Here I thought vinyl was going to be a total turd to store... Thanks guys. ^_^

don't let your mates borrow your good stuff, they'll just let it melt in their car.
