There are these "rank walls" that I keep hitting, does it happen to anyone else? I'm not even close to my top rank, but still, a few days ago I hit a wall at C, having won a lot until 100 points away from C+, then started losing a lot. And then again today, while at C+, just a mere ~50 points away from B-, I went on another losing streak.
Rightfully pissed (not really), I decided to check who I had played in my 5 loss streak, and so here are the stats for those players that beat me: 34-2, 43-5, 44-9, 30-0.
Geez, apparently I'm not the only jackass who likes to reset to get better stats. Anyway, there are only a couple of weeks left in the season so I'm definitely gonna try getting as high a rank as possible. It all depends on how many walls I hit.

Oh lord. And to think I'm getting decent when I can barley hold a positive ratio at D/D+ If any high level protoss is willing to train me please do it
|
i stopped caring about my rank, cuz i've beaten a lot of players outside of my rank ability, but i can't achieve that rank myself. Hey i notice on ur iccup stats you're pretty good at TvT, lets mass TvT xD! add me i'm smi.gladstone.
|
Yeah sure, ppl willing to tvt are hard to find t.t

before i hit C- (1st time) i was within 150 pts 3 times all 3 times i fell to D w/o winning a game...yea i know exactly what your going through

Sabbath, do you know when this season ends? I was asking an admin earlier and he told me it was March 1st but then my friend checked the website and sees March 17th. I'm not sure if this is true or not but I think you were an admin on iccup before??
|
I don't have enough time for ladder, I look at it from a people perspective. You have those friends who are a little above you, and you slowly but steadily work past their ability's. Then there's those bastards that toy with you offracing.

it ways march 1... usually admins dont know more than what is said there

These Rank walls..... i get angry. it happened to me atleast 4 times now while trying to get to D+ all 1800+
|
just as an update, i had lost 5 games yesterday before i made this thread, and today i lost another 10 games totalling 15 losses in a row before I reset and won vs a D player
god damn...

sometimes though i think ur play depends a lot on outside forces as well, like how well your life is developing, if you're stressed out or worried about something in real life you won't be able to concentrate as much, and would result in a bunch of nerdrages...
Thats why progamers gets free food/living place, cuz then they wouldn't ahve to worry about that stuff and can focus 100% on playing well.

god damn... did you shift your sleep schedule? more specifically, did you start playing vs koreans?
|
sabbath you're a lot better than that gogo !
|
Happens to everyone. Just take it easy. If you lose a game, take a breath. There's no need to leave a game that you lost and then go back again and lose more. Mental state is pretty important when playing games and if losing impacts you that badly, it's better to just cut your losses and stop playing after a bad loss or two.
There's always tomorrow ^^

The rank wall is so deadly... it happens... it gets you pissed... you decide to play more games... you lose more games... omfg. I remember when I got cheesed 4 times in a row... and once I SCOUTED the cheese and it still worked... /nerdrage.

No, the only thing that changed was that I played all day saturday and sunday and then on monday and tuestday I had to wait until around 7 pm to start playing (because of work). I won a lot on sat/sun and lost a lot on mon/tue.
I theorize that having been on the computer at work without doing much (apm-wise) all day long makes me slow and when I get home to play my game suffers. I'll probably get used to it. I'll put speed metal on my playlist on the trip home so I can get in the mood before I even get here. Heh.

C- To C was my first wall still is actually xD

I don't know if you've seen "the last lecture" by Randy Pausch but he says something really interesting there I always think about when I do bad at something and feel like I've hit a (brick)wall:
"The brick walls in life are not there to stop you, they're there to test you on how much you want something"
Good luck with your playing.
