I reached D+ very fast as both T and Z, and then with T again in less than a month(yes, macro games, not cheese, 2facs and all-ins). Alot of this had to do with the fact that I started playing at the same time as several of my friends, one of which (protoss player) had always been very good in other strategy games, such as Wc3.
However, I was the only one of us to start playing terran, so of course I ended up playing 0 TvTs, except when the others tried to offrace against me, which ended horribly for them.
So when I started playing iCCup, I became another of what I believe to be a myriad of Terrans that only play TvZ and TvP, even during my stint as a D+ Zerg I was very apprehensive to learn ZvZ, but I didn't dodge any games.
However, this season of Proleague has been filled to the brim with TvT, and to me, it's a very interesting and entertaining matchup, and recently I started to feel that I'hve been missing something, and that something is TvT.
Now I'hve had a few attempts at learning (no less than 2 threads started in the strategy forum). But these have usually been thwarted by a lack of information. Most of my TvP and TvZ knowledge come from a mix of Stylish VODs, liquipedia and a whole lot of threads in the strategy forum (extra thanks to Ver and Idra who always reply with very very useful information). Stylish has a little bit of TvT (very little), and liquipedia often doesn't go beyond the first 5-10 minutes of what is usually a very lengthy matchup. The only somewhat lengthy (albeit a bit unorganized) information comes mostly from DaZe's advice for Terran thread, but i'm a bit reluctant to use it, since it in TvZ mostly advices me to 2 rax FE or 2 rax push, which isn't the current style, also, like I said it is still a bit short.
Now what do I do to begin? Of course, I should begin where I begun with the other matchups that caused them to evolve very rapidly, by playing it with some practice partner!
I recently begun putting some of Artosis' advice to work (practicing a matchup by playing with a friend in a SET build order, this case it was Siege Exp -> Drop -> 3rd -> Lategame play vs 1 Gate Nexus -> 3 Base Arbiter -> Late Game, something that helped alot in my TvP).
So where does TL.net fit in this picture? Well pickings on iCCup are slim, it seems that most D/D+ Terran fit in the same slot as me, forever doomed to dodge TvT, and none of my friends play Terran.
So I'm giving it a try here, if anyone wants to play some TvT against me, just look me up on iCCup or PM me, my handles on iCCup are Catch]22 and Stfunaab. I'm usually on iCCup almost every day some time between 17-01, thats 5PM-1AM for you yanks, CET (GMT+1).
I got PM'd a while back ago by a C terran, whose name I wont print, who asked me if I wanted to play some TvT, but I hesitated since I knew my TvT was probably not going to be anywhere near his level (meaning I'd get contained by 1 vultue then rolled).
I'm on right now (00:41 CET) and will be for another hour if anyone feels like cramming tanks and dropships down my throat. Oh, and I prefer maps currently in proleague/individual league rotations.
So what are you waiting for? Maybe you stink at TvT just as bad as I do, if so, lets make it our best instead.
Hell, it's about time.
