At this point I didn't know that I had broken anything. I figured that the fact I was able to walk, even if walking caused excruciating pain in my foot, was a pretty good sign that it was just a bruise or something that would be fine overnight. I still was stuck at the gym though, but luckily my girlfriend's dorm was very close. It would have been hell to get to my dorm, which was about a mile away despite still being on campus. UCSD is ridiculously huge. I crashed at my gf's for the night, hoping that my foot would feel better in the morning. My foot did feel a lot better when I woke up, and I could hobble around well enough to take a campus shuttle to class.
I went to the student health center after class to make sure nothing serious was wrong. The guy who took my xrays was like "Hey come take a look at these. You sure did a doozy on that." From the picture, it would be pretty obvious to anyone that my bone was broken. The doctor said that he was surprised that I wasn't in a wheelchair and that I wasn't taking anything for pain.
The treatment isn't so bad. I just have to wear a hardsoled shoe for up to 6 weeks while it heals. I'm just a bit sad that I won't be functioning to my best abilities for the first few weeks of the school year. I was also going to take a kempo class, which I out the door until next quarter, I guess. The worst part of all this is the sheer size of UCSD. I walk so slowly that it takes forever to get anywhere. Getting between classes which have only a 10 min window of time between them and take a 10 min walk at normal pace is going to be a challenge. :/
