ipod touch software?

So I got my dad the 2nd gen ipod touch which we later returned for the 3rd gen. Just opened it today and I was curious if there is a preferred software to use with it. I've always disliked itunes for being slow and resource intensive so I've used Winamp with my ipod personally.

So what do you guys recommend? Stick with itunes or use an alternative?

You have to configure it first with iTunes to get it working regardless.

Not sure if it allows you to manage media afterwards or what, but I just thought I'd make note of that.

I just stick with iTunes personally. I don't see any problem with it.
