It's been a while I'm reading strategies and game theories on TLnet. Like many here, I (re)-discovered this game when I've heard about SC2 >.< Now, I'm a huge fan of SC Pro scene and I almost watch every games released on Youtube (thanks guys for all your work !).
But I never play ! No time or no motivation
So about a week ago, I started to play SC. I've played before but only the basic missions and with a couple of friends but no more. Now, I trying to be... well, as good as possible
So I've listened to Day9's podcasts and decided to focus on the mechanics and some basics strats (2 Fact vult opening). I'm also only playing TvP.
I've praticed like 5-6 games a day and liek 10-12 during the week end for a weak against CPU (btw, is it good to practice V CPU ?) and...
An hour ago, I decided to try on Battlenet ! Youpiii.
LOL. I've been totally raped. The Toss stole my gaz twice and because I was willing to stick to my plan, I was so behind that he literally out macroed me
In the third game, I tried to build my gaz before the rax but he outmicroed me with his goons T.T
Starcraft is definitely a very hard game but, it's still fun ^^
(omg, my blog is so gay.)
PS : since I'm new, crap and I live in Japan, it's pretty hard for me to find players on ICCup/Bnet/IRL so if some of you guys wanna help me to improve by playing me, feel free to pm me :D
+ Show Spoiler +(if you help me to improve my SC, I'll teach you how to play Dance Dance Revolution :p)
edit : thanks for the tip, here is the Replay
|
Tip 1 to asking for help is posting replays
Otherwise I would play with you but im sure our timezones are very different!
|
there is a training program going on in iccup.com , so try that also.
liquipedia is a friend.

haha, this only mean that you dont hv enough experience, usually when a probe manage to enter your main, you should build refinery on the double to avoid gas steal.
In the third game, I tried to build my gaz before the rax
err, you shouldnt do that. stick to your BO, block ramp with SCV if you afraid of gas steal.

well, you could always try to play on Fishbattle.net. Most of the players are Korean.

officially requesting video of you tripple A'ing a 11foot song on DDR to prove your skillz!
|
thanks guys for the tip I've put my rep just in case. So basically, I have to stick to the plan and if I see the probe coming, I quickly put down a gaz ? And, just wondering : this toss really likes to put pylons in my main, just before the minerals, do I have to destroy it with my scvs or just wait for my tanks or marines to do the job ?

Well... i've delete every video... but I still got one... not totally DDR but more like a fan-club video with some of my DDR moves. It's very shameful >.< T.T

Manner pylon, haha, every Terran hate that.
Just try to prevent his probe from entering your main (wallin, SCV block), if he somehow managed to get in and he build a pylon in your main, pull 3-4 SCV to destroy it.
In my experience, the Protoss will eventually build a cannon or gateway once the Pylon is almost finish, try to destroy the Pylon before that happen, or just kill the probe to end the stupid cheese.
If he add more Pylon, attack it with SCV. add another pylon, attack with more SCV. Your only way of survival is to keep SCV production as well as getting your Marine ASAP, and try to wallin in the process.
Well, you'll learn more through experience.

wow.. that seems hard lol.
btw, thanks all you guys PMing me ^^

Uh what? Pulling numerous SVCs to destroy a manner Pylon will just halter you more. Just use the SVC that was trapped by the manner Pylon to attack it, and use your marine. (Your first marine shouldn't be far away from popping.)
IF he does start making cannons or gateways (this rarely happens, the point of manner pylon 95% of the time is to just block a few workers and mineral patches, putting you behind slightly economically, and most of the time it's a nice way to piss your opponent off, so small mindgames. ;o) THEN you pull 4-5 workers. 4-5 workers should kill a Gateway before a Zealot pops out. (Need to start attacking instantly, which shoulnd't be a problem since their like next to you lol.) They will destroy any cannons instantly pretty much. (Which is why, nobody cannon rushes in plain sight, LOL. Unless the map allows for some very clever sim city, meaning he will use some type of buildings to block your access to the cannon.)
If he does any of those 2, you need to remember it's a cheese, and he doesen't have anything in his base. Unless of course he went for a Cannon rush, but if he did a Cannon rush through a manner pylon, he should loose anyway unless your completely retarded which I highly doubt. =p
Also I don't think I've seen a 2 gate manner pylon Proxy yet against a Terran, and I think for a good reason: SVC's too strong.
If your Gas gets stolen, you should pull SVCs, 3-4 or so to destroy it. Instead of just making 3-4 marines, more is recommended especially if it's a map without a ramp.

Yeah man TvP is one of the hardest matchups in the game, because of how easily your army can die to protoss due to a single mistake or stasis/storm whatever rape.
You need to be really tactical and mechanical in TvP
|
hmm, btw, 2Fac Vult rush maybe not very good on destination since it's hard to get through the bridges (the P usually put canons). ?
|
terran prolly the hardest race for someone starting out. just because i think its the most mechanical intensive. i could be wrong...

Actually I don't think it's a bad idea to build your refinery before gas if you know he's going to steal it. I've seen Iris build his refinery part way before rax then send the scv back to mining and put it back on later. If you do end up getting your gas stolen, I've seen Stork (offracing as terran on one of those bnet attack shows) have one of his scvs that are attacking the assimilator above the gas because according to him, scvs will build the refinery faster than probe can build assim if the scv is on top.

I think you shouldn't do aggressive builds like that. Start practising and only practise FE builds. Why? Because their macro builds where your macro is put on to the test. And they will almost always go to midgame and lategame.
Personally, I didn't practise any other builds untill I reached C-. And once your C-, your overall knowledge of the game is so good that learning other builds and using them will be a whole alot easier. And even afterwards I still go FE 90% of the time, but now if I want to switch things up, I have the basic mechanics to follow it up.
Also it's agreed that the best way to improve is to sticking to one build order. And don't think one build order will be 100% the same each game, because it won't. You will have to adapt alot depending what your opponent does. Also remember that there's many ways for a Terran to follow up a FE. (FD, Siege expand etc.)
Oh and also, most new players always do FE builds. (Don't be tricked by Zergs though at low levels, they usually have no idea how to play so they do all-in rushes, just because your scout sees a hatchery at their natural, it's competely normal, just keep scouting against them and if you see very fast gas, alot of lings etc, bunker up and prepare!)
|
Ok, so basically, I should learn FE. Noted. thx

msg me on iCCup Zoler / BW-Zoler and maybe we can watch some replays / etc

Yo, I'm pretty much crap as well but you can msg me if you want to have a game.
