I often find myself listening to music most of the time. I am an avid fan of music. Wherever I am, whether it be at home, school, or out, I will have headphones whenever I can. While on the car ride home from vacation and listening to my iPod, I found myself listening to a lot of calm, serene music, specifically Korean ballads or Indie. This is when I realized that I listened to music which perfectly matched my mood; until this epiphany, I had been doing this unconsciously. I know for a fact that this is not the case for everyone, as some people stick to one genre of music, whether it be metal, rock, hip-hop, and the likes. In my case, I listen to either hip-hop, R&B, Asian music, and a little rock.
Most of the time, I will always be listening to hip-hop. Hip-hop is so beautiful. It’s like fast poetry. I am an avid hip-hop fan and will always try to discover new artists. What is my mood when I listen to hip-hop? When I am chillin, with friends, exercising, playing Starcraft and such. Pretty much anything that I do when I do not feel angered, sad, etc.
A lot of the hip-hop that I listen to is very “jazzy.” In other words, I listen to acid jazz. Check some of these out!
And let me to tell you this: hip-hop + weed = sex in the ears. At least in mine. Listening to music while high is just fucking amazing. Words can not explain. I remember we were in a friend’s ’87 Honda, and the quality of the songs was too good to be true.
Now we have Asian music. Wow, I listen to asian music when I’m in the following situations: -Feel mellow (it’s sort of like my source of emo music, keke) -Reminiscing -Sometimes in the bus or subway (just feels like it was meant to be)
A few days ago, I had a dream of a girl that I knew in high school. I was madly in love with her, but she only thought of me as a friend. I kept trying, but could not do anything. Before I knew it, she moved to Europe and I barely talk to her aside from Facebook. But then again, I started losing interest in her. After that, I listened to ballads for the entire day. =/
These are the kind of music I listen to (mainly Korean). Notice how a lot of them have the “mellow” feel.
R&B pretty much belongs in the same class as Asian music. I listen to it when I want that “mellow” feeling. + Show Spoiler +
Of course, when I feel sad or whatever, hip-hop can come in play. Mellow hip-hop work similarly with Asian music imo. I don’t necessarily have to feel sad. I can’t really explain in words ^^;; + Show Spoiler +
In conclusion, I wanted to write this blog and share my thoughts with music. Whenever I am in a certain mood and find the right song to go with it, the experience is just on another level. I love music and am even considering producing music as a hobby.
I know what you mean - I specifically avoid listening to certain types of music when I'm sad because it only makes me worse. I've also loaded my mp3 up with louder, faster and more up-beat tracks for working out to I accidentally crushed my mp3 and then put it in the washing machine and I was so happy to get a new one last week ^_^

Music + DXM = amazing. You should seriously try it, auditory orgasms were experienced all around on a 1200mg trip while listening to 30 seconds to mars.

same. O_O You don't have an ipod!?!??!?!
I have a really bad track record with electronics/technology so I opted for something cheaper. I've even managed to lose my hair dryer in a room the size of a postage stamp -_______-

Good job homie, link him to a youtube he posted in his post
Check out Sadistik, Atmosphere, Prolyphic and Reanimator, Pez, Blu & Exile, Sage Francis, Athletic Mic League, Mr. J Medeiros, Pez, Thomax (remixes underground shit), Cise Starr, CYNE (I assume you know them from Nujabes already), Nomak, Soulstice, Simon Kawamura, Shin Ski, Unknown Prophets (later albums are much much better than earlier).
That tokimonsta remix is sick but I have both her albums and the rest are pretty bad mixes lol
I just got the album On Sacred Ground by Eligh of Living Legends along with his mom, who is a folk singer. It's an interesting compilation, folk + hiphop, but it works. Really good album. If you don't know it try it out.
Why do I feel like you post the same blog periodically every month, every time especially linking the same Nujabes song Lady Brown?
Anyway, actually, I don't listen to music that matches my mood. In fact, most of the time the music determines my mood. Depending on what i listen to on the drive over, I can either be really mellow/emo or hyperactive when I go hang out with my friends. It sometimes doesn't change until I pop some new tracks in.
Have you ever heard Giant Panda? I think you will like it.
