Alright, So I have this other desktop that is like decent, runs war3, wow, etc. Anyways, recently its been behaving oddly and now it cant access the internet through a browser at all (IE or FF) and war3/wow cant connect to the internet. However SC still works and i can play on iccup/useast/west etc fine, as if SC is the only program with access to the internet for some reason.
TL have any ideas?
I can post like hijack this logs if that would help.

check the firewall? if some programs are and some arent, i would say its the firewalls, or individual settings on ewach of them... have you installed a new antivirus?

erm, not the best place to post something like hijack this?
Try resetting your router and see if that works. Also if you think you have a virus download malwarebytes and run it to see if you have any problems, afterward try eset's online scanner and lastly try kaspersky's online scanner (you should know that eset's scanner will instantly remove any harmful files without your consent and if you dl lot of fishy stuff it might cause problems for your programs later).
Finally if you decide it's not worth it and you want to buy a new computer do so after Oct 22 which is when companies will be selling their computers with windows 7 installed on them

I was thinking of just formatting and installing he RC of Windows 7 on the computer.

Do it. I'm recommending it to everyone, because after you use W7 for a bit, there's absolutely NO reason to go back to XP or Vista.

I keep hearing this and I don't understand it. I have a hard time finding things I can't do with XP (Or server 2003 rather). Computer usage is all about the programs, and if they run on XP, great. The OS (which I should be able to ignore) better bring something sweet to offset the loss of the taskbar I have been using forever and which I am used to.
So granted there is directx10. Is all the windows 7 hype because 7 can do dx10 without sucking like vista? I'm just not convinced at all.

if only few programs get internetconnection and browsers etc don't - you might have a DNS problem. Check if you can enter the IP in your browser, like http://67.228.171.232
solution could be setting a different DNS Server in your router or Settings on the PC.
