it's a quite simple and easy-to-counter build nowadays, with lurks, guards, and that kind of shit. but it was one of the terran's best arsenals back then.

half and half, half because it was actually named after the foreigner, but another half because sauron-style almost immediately refers to one of the oldest maps, dark sauron (or some shit like that)

I'm not sure what bizarre time warped world you're living in, but SK terran has never been 'easy to counter' unless your name was Savior. The SK terran that Nada used was fueled by 2 gases. T's only opened 2 rax acad cc back then because Zergs were still opening 2 hatch lurker and strategies hadn't evolved enough yet. SK terran now is fueled off of 1 rax cc or 14cc. Not really that much of a difference. Flash has been using it pretty frequently over the past half year to great success. On May 23 2009 08:01 Chef wrote: Ehh... I don't really like the idea that someone 'invented' a combination of units. Popularized, maybe, but what the hell? The only time it's really clear someone invented a strat is if it's hugely map specific and uses some fancy timing or building placement... If it's just a combination of units... It's probably been done ten million times over while people were still generally picking their units at random to win games. Don't get me wrong. I like calling it SK Terran too. I used to think it meant South Korean since it's kind of a hard micro intensive way to play and it made me feel like a baller to do it. Nobody cares about how some average newbie 'invented' any build back in 1999. The entire point of inventing a build is the mindset behind it, whether it be map specific or not. That's why all the bozos who think the fantasy build wasn't invented in 2008 by iloveoov but is just bringing back an older build are wrong, because the fantasy build is entirely geared at beating 3 hatch muta, a modern invention. If some random person used it in 2002 vs 2 hatch lurker or whatever it would be a completely different build than the 2008 one.

Are builds based on mindsets or on the order and effect of resources spent? Or both? Discuss and debate!

The two are pioneers not because they were the first to use those combinations (and they weren't, not by a long shot) but because of the novel way they used them.
