I am considering getting a cellphone and I have some questions..... *Verizon Network is the assumed network* 1. Is there a plan where theres absolutely NO TEXTING? Or is there always like a small amount for free each month/week/year?
2. If a cellphone is made by another company other than verizon, how can I use it on a verizon network?
3. Whats a good, cheap cellphone that has a pricing range of 25$ - 50$ that has decent durability, looks decent, and is easy to use.

No texting? That's basically all I use my phone for...

1.I'm sure there is a way to prevent texting from coming in, just call customer service and it should work.
3. Look online, there are alot of good deals that you can get phones for free after you agree with their contract (mostly 2 years)

Strange I'd go for unlimited texting and no minutes personally :/

Afaik, Verizon is the biggest pain in the ass and the worst provider to try this with and from what I've seen it usually doesn't fly. Not to mention most of the phones are designed for 1 or 2 specific providers.

Actually I don't really have any power in the plan I get. I am just trying to prepare for the worst for what my parents are probably going to get me so I want to try to get a worst case scenario sort of? so I don't get disappointed

Yea. you can definitely prevent your sending/receiving text. My dad did it, not sure how though.

Well, if your parents get a family plan, then they can just add your line for $9.99 i believe.
If not, then the cheapest verizon plan is $39.99 / month, which doesn't included texting (that's $10 / month extra). I would highly recommend texting, even if you have to pay for it yourself.
I think the best phone for you would probably be the LG enV 2, its $49.99 right now with a 2 yr contract. Its a pretty basic phone but everyone I know that has this phone loves it.

at&t has a way to do this (you call them and talk to them and they turn it off). Dunno about verizon though.

You can't really, because there's no GSM card for verizon. You guys can correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought on verizons/sprints phones (CDMA network) they didnt' use sim cards, so you needed to use verizon phones, and switch the network in the store if you wanted to change the store.
