Double click the vod to see why. I don't understand why Youtube has such gay uploading preferences. I have about a 50% chance of getting either a black box like this or I DO get a fullscreen that looks good and sexy. I use 1280 x 720 resolution and 2500kbps bitrate in mp4 format.
If someone can answer why this happens to me when I try to upload HD videos half the time, then I will answer how to NOT die and get your 72 virgins!
Edit:HD might not be ready yet but just imagine the same thing except like 3x clearer
It's your kbp/s isn't over 1024 enough of the time to set off youtube to say hey this can be HD. You have to remeber youtube runs off something like 1024kb/s constaint bit rate meaning you have to always be above that line. Also you use bars? or streach it or something to keep the aspect raito. Try uploading at 1280x960 and atlest 3000kb/s+ or if your going to use 2000 or so use a ABR not a total VBR, VBR is ment for size and not streaming and it's not always youtube friendly also upload audio at above 256 AAC for best audio.
Are you useing a zoom function which depending on how the program does it may cause your problem or something instead of acutlly doing a true resize you just need to supersample/upsacle your vid to 1280x960. Youtube makes anything greater than or = to 1280x720 as HD as long as the bitrate is matched.
All I can say is render the same way every time. Rendering from one format to another or using 2 different codecs can result in vastly different results. Find a rendering process or file format that works well for you and write it down and do it for every upload.
I'm not familiar with resize and upscaling but I always try to do as close to native resolutions as I can while still keeping a reasonable file size. I find that HD uploads can easily take 2 hours to fully upload and process. It's insane.

Edit:It lags horribly >_>
It's why you want to use ABR and a lower bit rate becuase pure VBR is very hard to convert to work with youtubes cbr rigging makes large files that youtube hastenlys transcodes i usually would upload 1500 ish to get rid of lag at high action sences.
Could you give me a clear definition of ABR and VBR? please? I don't quite get how to convert it to ABR intsead of VBR(And the definitions for the acronyms)
VBR-Variable BitRate is ment for computer play back and is best for its compression but it usually takes a higher cpu load duing high action scences vbr allows the data rate to go from near nothing to full 32000kb/s or depening on the settings it's extremely unfriendly for streaming CBR-Constant bit rate is what it says the bit rate is always constant this is an extremely friendly for streaming but it creates huge files which are low load on cpu but because its constant bit rate it makes it easy on computers to view ie why its friendly for streaming and why youtube uses it to transcode ABR-Avereage bit rate is a cross between cbr and vbr where it has a set range to go up and down but unlike vbr its limited and so during any part of the scence the bit rate has to add up to what you set it to but its allowed to allocate the bit rate to be high and lower in short intervults, so like in 2 secs the bit rate always has to add up to be the same but each frame in that seconds don't have to be the same make larger files then vbr but is low cpu and does very well for streaming.
There should be a ABR setting atlest on x264, wme9 yes wme does have H.264 encoding it's just not unlocked nativly, or quicktime thingy unless you pay for your transcoder which i've never used,
hmm I think somethings wrong with my Camtasia Studio or something. Do you have any reccomondations for software like camtasia studio, sony vegas pro, movie maker, etc(can do that stuff and more maybe)?
Thats using MOvie maker HD option thingy...it's still lagging. How exactly do i compress it to youtube friendly HD stuff?
I really don't know whats wrong now. EVERYTHING in HD seems to lag for me regardless of if it lagged before/after fpvod made a while ago in HD. I remember it clearly wasn't laggy.
Final Edit: I guess I just had to wait a bit...so wierd all the lag and stuff is gone.
