I can't believe he didn't get the record breaking 3rd hat trick in a row. 2 first half goals I thought he was odds on for it!

I haven’t touched my FPL team since gameweek 1 but Haaland as captain was a solid choice if I may say so! Phenomenal goal scorer

I feel silly betting against him and having havertz isak and that dude from brentford (although he is giving good points every week)

The hearing into Man City's 115 financial charges starts today.
It's pretty obvious that they're guilty, so if they aren't found as such then the PL/FA may as well remove their Financial Fair Play rules altogether. I'm sure Everton and Nottingham Forest will be very interested to see what comes of it given the punishments they received for much smaller (and a much smaller number of) offences...

While it’s pretty obvious there’s been some fuckery going on, proving it is another thing. Especially against a veritable army of expensive lawyers. UEFA already found this a particularly tough nut to crack.
Everton and Forest didn’t really have a leg to stand on given their own books made up much of the evidence against them.
While I hope the book gets thrown at Man City, they’re quite different circumstances to me. One is (allegedly) actively trying to circumvent the rules, others have incompetently managed their finances.
I do think things like FFP and league-specific regulations definitely have flaws, but the alternative seems to be folks with more money than sense potentially bankrupting cherished social institutions.
How long did it take Leeds to bounce back to anything like where they were? Hell even a Barcelona were in dire straits financially at one point through mismanagement.

Sad to see Might've been the worst passing game I've seen from Liverpool in a very very long time. Couldn't make simple 5 yard passes. Don't really think this is at all on Slot, just the players playing so below their standards. Salah looked like the worst player on the pitch.

I dont remember them ever playing CL Pretty damn big, they got close to qualifying a few times under Martin O’Neill but never made that jump. It was probably harder back then as the ‘big 4’ of the time reliably qualified and were usually pretty locked in.
They have actually won the old European Cup though which is more than can be said for most clubs!
The tricky part for Villa is it’s a very competitive league and you can have a great season and qualify for the CL once, or here and there but few teams have really pushed on from that kind of bracket to qualify more often than not. Be it a Spurs or a Newcastle amongst other clubs in a similar boat

Bayern 9-2. Kane with 3 penalty goals. Fun first round!
(For the record - I was curious. Cameron Brannagan scored four penalties in Oxford's 7-2 League One win over Gillingham, so it's not a record. I don't think it has happened in the CL before, though. )

Unfortunately as I expected, crap teams filling up CL are just going to get pummeled for points and to boost Goal stats.

Our 4th hardest fixture in UCL done and dusted with a lovely 3-1 win. Today felt like the typical Liverpool from last season, forget to turn on for the first 10 minutes, concede once, then come back and take total control over the game and score some nice goals.
Gravenberch is a proper 6/midfielder btw, he is so damn good.

Decent start for me Inter boys, hopefully we can make another deep run this season. We’ve probably been a better side last few seasons than we were when we made the final, but unless you’re one or two sides you need some luck at this level, be it in the draw or just a few rubs of the green on a particular match night. Also despite being skeptical, I’m quite enjoying the format change this far. I guess it’s very early and we may end up with a lot of dead rubbers down the line though.
I hadn’t realised teams no longer drop down to the lower competitions too, I wonder if that’ll change the tenor of those?

They made a mock-up of the standings after 7 games here. Only 2 teams were guaranteed top8, only 3 teams were eliminated before the last game. These numbers could be off slightly, but in the old group stage we'd have have more teams that would be through or out at that point.
I also like teams that played like crap in the CL group stage not dropping down to the Europa League and destroying everyone there. Didn't happen that often (Atletico and Sevilla?), but it's good it's no longer possible. So far, I see only upsides to the new format (except maybe the extra 2 matches on the calendar).

That mock-up looks kinda realistic from a "strength on paper" kinda view. I was sceptical with the new format but this looks better than anticipated

Actually hilarious how they got both of Liverpool's Pot 1 teams right in the mock.

Harry Kane becoming the top English goal scorer in both the Champion’s League and the Bundesliga in the space of a week isn’t bad!
Granted, not a huge amount of competition for the latter honour!

He got three pens against some low tier team in cl and the opponents in the Bundesliga are subpar too. Totally legit that a world class premier league striker is the top scorer. Not to take away from him but I doubt he would do that at Spurs in the PL.

oh arsenal...this is why you havent won titles against city

Yeah, at 2-1 up and city on the ropes because of Rodri injury, you dont want your idiot player hoofing ball away on a yellow card and giving ref no decision after already making a foul in the process lol.
The second half was hilarious too, big sam was loving the game, the only person, as Arsenal parked 3 busses instead of the 1 they had out in the first half xD
I would not mind this, if this was any other club than Arsenal, as for 20 years, when Chelsea were winning games on counter and parking bus vs top teams with an ultra defense, every Arsenal fan was like "we would never do that, that not football, football is about passing and the pep way" for them in there "best period" for 20 years to doing the exact same, it triggers me haha!
Also, back to Rodri, feel bad for him, that looks like an ACL which is season over and he was being the voice for players to go on strike as too many games but now he out of the picture.
