SC2 does time dilation (if it can only handle ~11 ticks/sec, it will run the game at half speed to stay ahead of the CPU load) and communicates that it's present and who is causing it when the dilation gets high.

I wouldn't be surprised if the patch is delayed a few days or a week.

I gave each faction like 10 games and that's the limits of my good faith. If I wasn't, I would have stopped at my fifth game. Frankly it just isn't finding its own audience. When blizzard released SC2 and few Koreans switched over, it didn't matter because it had its audience. Same with Aoe3 and 4 even if they pale against aoe2 You can nitpick every part of the games and no games are without their flaw, but SG does not have much good going for them, and worse of all, soulless.

How much heavy lifting will the words "at least" be doing in September?

I would really like to see the curve of numbers of games played per day. Why not leave the client open when you are invested? I had an existential crisis the other day thinking, "am I only playing and enjoying Stormgate because I put in $60 USD through Kickstarter?". I'm currently at around 67 hours, of which 47 has been since it hit EA. Mostly co-op with about 45 1v1 games in those 47 hours. But I think the answer is "no" - I am enjoying it legitimately, after looking through my Steam/Epic games library and all the games I played for under 10 hours but paid for (albeit not all $60 though)! Stormgate is an RTS content creator's dream - they can feed on the negativity or any eventual positivity. UpATree's video is now his 2nd most viewed video less than 24 hours after release! (His most is some keyboard comparison video that probably attracted a lot of non-RTS gamer attention). It seems the community's passion is thriving, it just tends to change on a whim (last week was pretty positive, now it's overwhelmingly negative again). I feel a lot stems from their lack of communication - the art/sound/some gameplay has had tons of feedback without much change over the past year - I assume (hope) they've really been really focused on getting something to ship for EA and are now going to respond/make changes based on all this feedback. But we don't really know - since we haven't heard much about creeps or low TTK, dog meta, etc. and other issues that are at the forefront of gameplay issues. I could have sworn from the Discord there are things like a full resource rework (heard in late 2023), more creep camp functionality (as of last patch it was only or 50% of its final intended form) etc. that have been mentioned but we've seen nothing on. But I don't think I can dig through it to find it again. This patch will be big for them either way. Excited to see it, to be honest.

Got no problem with people liking the product, but for a large majority, that's a game they prepaid full price for with no way to refund. Not saying it's their fault but this is why I dislike Kickstarter. On steam you can refund preorder. Stormgate isn't even that well covered in RTS content creators space tbh.

There is sometimes an issue with rollback when unit counts get high, especially on PCs with older hardware. Disabling rollback at Steam launch options sometimes helps with that. Input lag is absolutely a problem. When it takes a few seconds for units to react to a click the game becomes very much unplayable. My hardware is only a few years old and around average according to steam hardware stats. I can't enjoy 1v1 past 10 minutes, and that's without rollback, who knows what 3v3 will be like. Having a f2p game that needs a 2k PC to enjoy is nonsensical. I don't agree with all of NonY's points regarding gameplay, but I do with his point on technology. They shouldn't be promoting 64 tick and rollback when people can't get playable fps. People would care more about maintaining high FPS with 1000 units on the field. That would be a next gen rts.

Love it or hate it but they've kept to their release schedule in terms of betas, early access etc the entire time.

https://academic.oup.com/book/44294/chapter/372644387?login=false Puffery was and still is usually invoked as a defence argument. The speaker claims that their speech was just a puff for which they cannot be sued. It operated, and still operates, in multiple legal fields including contracts, torts, criminal law, trademarks, and more. Frost Giant stops far short from ever being outright fraud. There are people at the studio trying their best. Maybe there are some # of jerk offs sitting around doing nothing. It is hard to ever really know. There are many tech workers who yap away on social media platforms about how little work they do in a day. People can see by my low post count that I'm always putting in a full day's work.
