Frost Giant engaged in a great deal of "puffery" during the Kickstarter phase. This leads to angry disappointed players. Morten and Campbell are old enough to know this basic behaviour pattern.
Game Studios funding via Kickstarter follow this pattern. I wonder how the StartEngine backers are feeling?

You dont get my point. Lowering unit counts is the worst you can do. The implications are really serious.
You wanted thousands of units with your fancy, super expensive custom network hack, yet the game struggles with hundreds.
So what does SG do better than any RTS from the last 20yrs? When the tech doesnt stand out, what is even left?
Perhaps you intended to quote someone else? My suggestion of adding Soviet Warbears would prolly increase unit counts. Man, the old days of Dog V. Bear battles were good times!
I would love to see soviet warbears again man, they were so great in RA3!
The beta testers Steam players are complaining about the lag in the new patch. Also, Nathanias says he can't play due to camera scroll being broken. He is a very optimistic guy and he is having troubles right now. poor guy. He needs a hug. Time to send it back to the research department.

i am not certain "bro" is inclusive enough around here unless you are quoting Hulk Hogan, brother!
There is a bug with holding a modifier key disabling camera scroll and right click. In terms of performance, reports seem to be varied. Some people saying they have better performance, some saying they are having worse performance.
Got a chance to play the new patch bit; game looks soooo much better with the new lighting. Definitely instills confidence that they can diagnose areas to improve upon and execute.
Haven't grinded anything to 15 yet so I can't mess around with the gear/item system in coop tho -_-
Yeah the game does indeed look nice. Funny how much lighting helps.
Performance is still fine for me. I think I hit new highs -was around 350 FPS in co-op at the start of the game. I had never seen higher than ~280 before.
Late game co-op still around 50-60 FPS, which might be very slightly higher than last patch (probably due to lower army supply).
I lost to gravens in a Van mirror.. couldn't remember what detects. Of course, dogs I was trying to get sentinels out but he was attacking all over the place and I didn't know what gravens actually do. I guess they have a blink... and an OW Tracer sticky bomb.
It looks much better from the videos I see, but more like it's on par with other new RTS. And vanguard with the change looks even more like sc2 terran.
Can't say much on balance since I already moved on from playing it, but just from the patch note you can tell creep camp is gonna haunt them for map and game design.
What I like about AOE series is the map gradually opens up and random spawning resources nodes, and how it naturally progress into a different game every time.
Here I think creep camp would add an element to have, outside the standard resource nodes. But instead of AOE series that are randomised, and the benefits are slowly gathered, these are only gonna make builds more tailored for the map.
Graphics look a lot better. Like, a lot. Performance is still concerning. Games start off at 60 fps but tail off to 10-20 pretty fast. The game goes basically unresponsive during fights (as in, clicks often don't register until the fight is over).
I suppose improved graphics with ~similar~ performance is impressive. And considering this update is only 6 weeks in is, more so.

Despite appearances from recent posts I’ve no interest in shitting on the game
Consider this though, would it be a popular SC2 mod? I’d wager no. It might garner something like Starbow’s support, and I don’t mean to denigrate Starbow, it’s a cool mod. But it’s a mod made by like one bloke
Obviously not every game is a DoTA, but that core central idea was so solid that it garnered a huge folllowing as a pure mod that just reused WC3 assets
If your core gameplay isn’t compelling enough to stand on its own merits as a mod in another game, well your tech innovations better be bloody good
So far we have worse pathing than SC2, performance that’s crippling on many systems
Deadlock is knocking it out of the park currently and it’s clearly bare bones, using recycled assets etc
Hey I was exited about the prospect of an ambitious RTS game following the Blizz blueprint, if someone nailed that hey I’m not playing much else until my 40s at least. Which is less far off than I’d like!
They just haven’t nailed it, remotely. I find SC2 frustrating at times in 1v1, I’m getting slow in my old age. For a change of pace, the other title they took inspiration from in WC3 is just far, far better if you want a less macro heavy game
Co-op isn’t even close either. My son and partner are both basically complete RTS newbies, indeed my partner barely plays games but we’ve had fun doing 3v3 co-op. I have to carry a bit but they enjoy the flavour and even through a minuscule amount of games they have heroes and styles they like
Stormgate just doesn’t hit the mark. I was actually excited on the EA release, me and kiddo tried some co-op and he requested we go back to SC2 saying ‘this game is really like SC2 but not as fun’
Hey, from the mouths of babes
How old was the young one when you introduced him to the Starcraft universe? Playing Coop with the Minime sounds too great to be true :D

You’d think so but he’s a very salty gamer!
Nah musta been 4 or 5 maybe, I’d be watching tournaments and he took a bit of an interest, eventually got him playing a bit down the line. It’s tricky as I’m weekend dad and he doesn’t really have a PC over at his mum’s, so even if I get him enthused he can’t really keep it up the rest of his week
Someone I talked to was having trouble understanding exactly how Netcode Rollback works on an RTS game. I said "Dude it's like DirectX13 working under Vulcan in Mode 7 with Blast Processing activated!".
Watching high APM player games on twitch it looks like Snowplay's new tech is just another buzzword.
I'm still seeing mass dog vs Celestial on ninas stream who is 2200. Please nerf it more this isn't "fun" to play against. It can be completely balanced, but it's not fun and that's why I think it needs to be changed. I thought the community collectively agreed mass dogs was not a good thing. Make 1 to scout and harass a little. That should be its role. Come on frost giant!
That is the problem i was referring to when somebodies CPU can't process 64 ticks/sec, which happens quite a lot. The game breaks pretty badly, while SC2 does time dilation and mostly just becomes stuttery and slowed down but the input and steady progression of time is preserved.

Stormgate's #1 priority should be performance and stabilization. You can have the best product in the world but if so many people can't play it what does it matter? Low end PCs are the majority of users. You have to account for that.
The performance problems are the only thing that makes me really worried about the game. Everything else is improving with each update. I think it's absurd that I can enjoy triple A titles like Cyberpunk and Baldurs Gate 3 without issue, but a Stormgate 1v1 can't even approach a max out on the lowest settings. The instant units shoot eachother it effectively stops working.
You just can't have a f2p title, making effort to bring RTS back to casual players, and then only elite PCs can run it. You're eliminating entire demographics. So much for younger players or nerdy students playing in their dorms.
Additionally, even RTS diehards will not necessarily have a powerful PC. As a genre it's very light light on spec requirements. The same could be said for competitive game fans, Dota, LoL, Rocket League, Counterstrike, SC2 etc all run on just about anything.
