Wirtz has been quality since he came on, that was bloody close Sometimes the ref gets unlucky and gets a game where both teams constantly foul each other. I think this is one of those times. More decisions to make, more chance of mistakes. It’s a bitty game, agreed. Maybe x player should have had a booking, maybe y player it was a bit harsh but I don’t think there’s any major bad calls here.
Tough match to ref

Yeah Christina Urkel or whatever she’s called does a great job on ITV explaining the current laws as they actually are

Sorry I normally like your reasonable approach but this game alone, there were at LEAST 4-5 clear major bad calls.

Knowing how over the top the complications are is just depressing.

I wish that were the more important criteria. I've seen so many stupid handball penalties for dead balls that couldn't have become a chance, and this one that stops an obvious chance isn't given.

2 times Germans lie on the field. No stoppage by taylor. A Spanish player does - immediate stop.

I think the handball might have been offside on the initial attack before the shot. They sure didn't communicate it well at any point, but it was close enough that I couldn't call it from the replay.

Why take both Yamal and Nico off at only 1-0? The subs have definitely not worked. Merino was to "defend" the 1-0, but realistically Nico was doing far more defending by having that threatening presence. Yamal for Torres is kinda fine, because Torres also runs into spaces, he just runs straight for the goal instead of to the backline. And Oyarzabal participates less in play than Morata and is more of a "classical 9". He's just kinda bad at it, and it's really not working out. I take it back, De La Fuente calculated all possible futures and saw the Merino golden goal.
