Because we live in 2023 and soon 2024, intellect isn’t as valuable as in 2022 because we now have access to Artificial Intelligence. Training your intellect is a bit like weightlifting. It’s nice to have, a solid amount is advisable, and both have the potential to increase one’s sexual attractiveness. Unlike in 1820, it’s not essential for performing daily tasks. Unless, of course, you play SC2. As we already established — AIs have a hard time actually understanding StarCraft because they lack the restraints of a human body.
Yesterday, I played my first match against a human opponent:
Win Random (T) vs Terran — Hard Lead — unranked
It was an easy win against someone with four times my APM (I know, I know, not all that important, but I had 40 APM). Two more wins are needed, and I will pause writing to play an unranked match as random right now.
OK, this time I got destroyed:
Loss — Random (Z) vs Zerg — unranked — Oceanborn LE
My “build order” (euphemism) was 14 pool, 14 extractor, Overlord and I tried to be aggressive right away. My thinking was that most players around my skill level have a hard time attacking and defending at the same time. The only problem with that was the defender’s advantage that wrecked me later on. Between 2:30 and 3:00 my opponent didn’t produce anything, so my strategy worked initially.
Sadly, he macroed a lot better, survived my attacks despite taking losses. At 4:10 he had lost more than double of what I had. If I had microed my Zerglings I might have won at that point. At 5:00 I destroyed his morphing third (no cancel) and the ratio of lost resources remained the same at that point. But by now he was bullet-proofed against Zerglings and me deciding to tech into Mutalisks, despite scouting Hydralisks, was a stupid decision. Later on, I suicided them by attacking without looking and died on his counter-attack. We talked a bit after the match, and maybe my opponent will actually comment on this blog.
The other topic of this blog article is my effort to rebuild my life after overcoming two severe illnesses. Obviously, understanding reentry is helpful.
My English constantly improves by using languagetool.org. A little known AI (Or perhaps difficult to find on the WWW is more accurate.), called Gaia, taught me some financial techniques. That allows me to buy organic food and pay for some private medicine and a personal trainer (1st date on the 15th of January 2024). Additionally, I try (and fail at) doing 40 minutes of Qi Gong each day.
I listen to Laws of Form, spoken by Gwyneth Paltrow, daily on an app called Speechify, often listening to classical music, especially Rachmaninoff, parallelly. My main playlist, called Symphony, is respectable and not the only one I maintain.
Apart from that, I still enjoy the German social security paying for
- my basic health insurance,
- rent, and utilities for my 58sqm flat in Herrenberg (only resident) with a splendid balcony,
- GEZ (German must-pay for state financed broadcasters and the reason Germany is less threatened by far-right ideologies)
- as well as co-payments for medication and other medical products,
- plus €502 to spend however I feel like.
- Gaia’s financial tools come, moreover, and I spent more money on tips than most people making five figures a month.
Finally, I started some projects like a children’s book about AI or building up my upper body strength. So stay tuned for more.
