I would like to, but...
My Brain: Hey wrists, you think we can still play StarCraft at 60?
My Wrists: Ain't gonna happen fuck you kthxbye.

hopefully the whole community has moved on to frost giant or a different RTS by then, but yeah ill be playing strategy games/poker forever

Playing? No. I don't play now. Reminiscing about the days of MLG and GSL? Yes. I don't play anymore, which pains me. I love SC2 more than anything because of the grounding it gives me. Early WoL was the most interested I've ever been in anything. I'm not sure anything will ever touch me like that did. I have beautiful memories of it, and still watch old matches from time to time, as well as new matches from players I followed back then who still play. But one thing is for sure, when I'm 60, StarCraft will still be one of the greatest things ever to happen to me.

Not sure if I hope for such a thing... SC2 is bad compared to BW from my perspective. I don't see how somebody will make something better than BW even if it's a collab of Christiano Ronaldo and Messi of the video gaming dev industry.
I only hope I'll be proved wrong. And to be able to have fun when playing games by the age of 60

Gotta agree with that. BW was made in a different era where games were made differently. Now they teach people from school not to have mechanics that players cant immediately understand etc. BW is full of subtlety, many of the mechanics were not intentional. Nobody would make something like that again now. But I do hope this changes one day.

That's a pretty inspiring first post. Thanks! It takes the guilt I had about not playing that often anymore, and turns it into something beautiful, something I can cherish.
I'm still playing, 10 years after all my buddies quit. I don't improve anymore, but I'm fine with that. It's a lovely game still, and I'll play it until either one of us is no longer supported by Blizzard.

But that 2010-2012 era? Those memories are a priceless treasure. Like you said, I loved it more than I think I will ever love anything again. Of my 7000 odd posts, at least 6000 of them would be from 2011 GSL live report threads. I watched it every night. And not like nowadays where you'd have it on in the background and do other stuff, I'd *watch* it, completely glued to the screen.
20 years from now, it'll all be gone and nobody new born into the world will have any idea what transpired, but guys like you and me will remember. We'll keep that scene alive in our thoughts and hearts until our soul's dying breath.

No, if at all probably not more than a handful of games per year. But they will still always be wonderful games.

I can't ever imagine fully giving up on BW. I intend to play some games here and there for as long as I live, to be honest. Although it'll probably take a few years yet until our children are old enough for me to have any time to spare!

I've stopped playing SC2 about a year ago, the itch is gone. But I enjoyed it while it lasted.

You see this game this not only about APM. Stork's APM has steadily deteriorated over the years. Now it averages around 280. In some parts of the game I see he has 210APM! Yet he is still the top player. Don't worry guys grandpa can still kick your ass at 60 years old
