And Serral lost to Heromarine and Neeb early this year. What's your point?
Everyone has some questionable losses this year. Dark was the most consistent player all year. That one loss to Elazer was pretty much his only wtf are you doing series all year.

Woa, I didn't expect the poll to be so biased. Literally everything says Dark was better in 2019.

Serral winning this poll by that margin is absolute nonsense.

Lol how is this poll so one-sidedly in favor of Serral?

I did not vote in this poll, but for me personally it´s very clear that Serral is the best player in the world by quite a margin and for nearly two years already. Dark was sad that he did not beat Serral in the Blizzcon finals not because he knew that he would not be recognized as the best player of the year if he did not beat him, but because he could not acknowledge himself as the best player without a single win over Serral in 2019. Why i think that? Because Dark does not seem like someone who cares a lot about what people think but rather as someone who is very ambitious and wants to prove himself over the other players. Of course there are arguments for Dark and I can understand everyone who says Dark was the better player in 2019, but when I watch games of those two vs various opponents it just seems to me that Serral is the better player overall.

The people who don't acknowledge Dark as the best player of 2019 now wouldn't have acknowledged him as such if he beat Serral in the Blizzcon finals instead either. If you go 10-1 against the best TvZ and PvZ players as well as the only Zerg that Serral struggles with at all you can by all rights consider yourself the best. People should consider you the best or at least think about it. But people still rather put Serral ahead even though he was far less successful than the year before and not more successful than Dark.
I've seen more than one person call Serral the world champion recently, too.

It's like Maru fanboys on steroids. I mean we all know that with Maru it's only the good games that count, the rest are just ignored. But with Serral that's taken to a whole new level. Here it's entire tournaments that don't count if Serral doesn't win. All hail the reining world champion Serral

Well that is pretty much the point. I imagine that some casters overhyping Serral has everything to do with how some people believe him to be clearly the best regardless of what he wins. Many of the Circuit casters declared Serral the GOAT of SC2 already in 2018 and haven't looked back since. It's probably also a business thing since it really helps hype up the Circuit events, which is after all where their income comes from, and I imagine it makes it more exciting to cast them as well if we say the GOAT is present.
But for those of us who follow all of SC2 it is disappointing and bothersome. Not least because of the double standards applied: we all know that Serral was declared player of the year in 2018 mainly because of his smashing performance at the global finals. Without it, he wouldn't have gotten that praise. But now that another player has an even more dominant performance at Blizzcon, with a Code S win, ST win, many other top finishes, etc, it apparently doesn't matter. Because that player is not Serral.

Other because the player is "Zerg"
