all the food threads are making me hungry so i wrote this to sate it.
I have to make food for my brother. A lot. Especially b/c my grandma broke her hand and both my parents work. So here's an asian dish that is really friggen easy to make and tastes decent.
Egg Fried Rice
You need:
A lot of rice. Brown rice, white rice, it doesn't matter. Just get like... a container full that's about a quart. Cooked rice, mind you. If you want to know how to cook rice, buy a rice cooker.
For every quart, get 3-4 eggs. Beat the eggs thouroughly and while beating them start heating the rice on a frying pan at about medium-high temperature. Resist the temptation to beat off.
Take a table spoon of soy sauce (two if sodium free) and drizzle it over the rice. Add beaten eggs and a few pinches of scallion.
Stir-Fry until egg is no longer raw.
Serve hot. Should feed 2-3 people and keep them full for hours.
And while I'm at it, here's a meat preparation recipe (galbi).
You need: Rib meat. I usually can find some cheap prime rib at Costco. Actually, my mom does that.
Before getting the ribs, take a two cups of soy sauce, two teaspoons of vinegar, (maybe two teaspoons of sesame oil also), a cup of sugar, a pinch or two of garlic, a few drops from squeezed lemon and also a little bit of pineapple juice and pepper. Mix the entire thing and use it as marination mix for the beef. You may need more if you're making a lot of beef. Some people like different amounts of soy sauce and vinegar and everything, so feel free to experiment.
Marinate for 24 hours if possible, if not possible 3-4. Once done, grill over a barbacuue until satisfactory, raw, well done, etc. Add a chopped onion, some mushrooms, and brocolli for extra taste.
Midnight Snack:
Some Japanese/Korean egg thing
Gyeran Jjim in Korean I think
Easy as pie
Get some chicken broth. Buy canned ones if you're lazy, if not follow recipe below:
A) Get a whole chicken. Uncooked. Dead. No feathers. Wash the chicken. Do not butter it, lubricate it, have sex with it, etc.
B) Place chicken into steaming water until the chicken is like 90% into the water. Let chicken cook for 4 hours or so or until liquid turns a very strong clear yellow.
C) Add Salt to taste. Awesome when it comes to morning breakfast, morning sickness, diarrhea (no joke, its great for diarrhea b/c it has water and salts), and midnight drink.
Now, get eggs. Take about a pint or so of the chicken broth and add it to the egg, along with some garlic and other seasonings of your choice for taste and aroma. Take mixture and place into ceramic bowls/cups or a hot pot. Cover with saran wrap. Boil water. Add to boiling water, let it cook for 15 minutes. Serve hot.
Oh crap I need to sleep before I start eating again...
