GSL Code S kicked off its first season of 2019 with two decorated veterans advancing as many expected. Dark and Dear proved to be a cut above KeeN and Trust, and secured their spots in the Round of 16.
AfreecaTV recently confirmed that the 2019 season of GSL will have a virtually identical format as 2018, with three more GSL Code S tournaments headlining the year.
Next week will feature three more RO32 groups as part of a condensed schedule ahead of IEM Katowice. Stats, MC, sOs, PartinG, Maru, and Scarlett are among the star players due to play in next week's Code S matches (check out Liquipedia for more information).
I don't want to sound condescending, but my god were Trust and especially Keen awful. Trust at least managed to pull himself together somewhat, but Keen was a wreck, doing scv pulls and running his units headfirst. I hope he gets better over the year.

Yeah, I have to agree with this. Very disappointing
PS. It's really great to have a new translator. Feels like we are getting loads more out of the interviews. GJ afreeca!

It was sad to see Keen for me especially, because last year he seemed like he was sometimes on the verge of a big breakthrough. Maybe he's the new Clide.
KeeN was umpressive, I agree. It’s not really that surprising to see a Ro32 level Terran get stomped by an in-form Dear, but the series against Trust was really uninspired also. I think the bunker push that Terrans have been doing the last couple weeks has been figured out by protoss and needs to get replaced. I’d actually really like to see someone try the battle mech hellion/cyclone/banshee mid game play against protoss. Feels less likely to eat tons of protoss AOE or with the banshees die hilariously to an immortal all-in
I think Dear is gonna be top 8 or better in this Season 1. For one day He once more seemed like somewhat decent player, and ready to be relevant again (he just 2-0d Maru recently in GSL qualifier), however Keen's terrible play and an always mediocre Trust might cover his excellent games. Watch out for him!

disagree entirely. Keen's play was very obviously hyper aggressive by design as he probably thought that was his best chance of winning, and he was probably right. when you prepare to be aggressive for a series against a stronger player at this level you don't just switch up your plan, you commit. didn't think trust looked bad either.
i just feel like every time we have a group day there's at least one person who has to say the losing players played like trash. sometimes it's just that they're slightly worse overall than their opponents. great players can make good players look bad. put keen against Rotterdam with no names and you'll think he's a god

You can't really do that style because you will have no units that are good against blink stalkers. You won't have a real mobility advantage, nor do you have the firepower to take a proper fight. Regular mech is actually way stronger against Protoss in my opinion.
Side note, TY has been trying mech builds vs Protoss and bio into mech builds as well on stream recently. And he's very unhappy with the power level of it still.

i lost a lot of respect for dark when i heard of this lol... as a zerg who loves his play, i hope he never gets first place based on this... now everyone knows he's just going to waste his earnings.

Lord knows nobody has ever made jokes about such things in interviews before.

Why would you consider it a waste if it is what he wants? Different people have different priorities.

Oh noez, somebody would have won money with his skills and "wasted " the money based on nobody from the internets. it's his moeny, his life, his car.
Jeez >< The only player with interesting interviews in the top and people are losing respect because of it.
