What's up fellow nerds ?
I'm thinking about buying a Raspberry Pi 3 to play around with, what do you guys think ? Anyone here has some experience with those ?
I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with it. I think I'll start using it with an HDD as a homemade NAS (for computer backups, file storage and stuff), and if it's not as useful as I expect it'll be, I might just install an emulator on it and use it as some kind of NES/SNES Mini (with a cool case and controller ?)
Basically, I'm looking for any kind feedback regarding the Raspberry (or any equivalent board really, I'm not dead set on the Raspberry yet). How easy is it to use ? What can you do with those ? What have you done with it ? What do I have to pay attention to ? Etc.
As always, thanks in advance TL Community ! <3

This is what I did with mine. Bought a USB SNES controller to go with it. Kind of fun to play all the old games on TV with retro controller, although I guess a laptop would work too. It does lag a little bit with some games.

Which board do you use ? Did you install it on top of an OS, if so which one ?

I think this is the one I got, all I needed was an SD card:

If I remember right retro pie auto installs the OS. Was pretty much plug and go. If you're comfortable with unix command line though I'm sure you can do personalized setups onto the SD card.

Bought one to play old games on and to mess around with. I am very impressed with it, and the contributions of the pi community. Retropie and Emulation station are amazing, though there were a few issues (mostly due to my own ignorance) but overall I got what I wanted.

Got one as a small content server for a work project. It does very well. Heavy database use is not recommended, mysql can hit 100% CPU load quite easily and that messes things up a bit, but other than that,it's good.
