I don't think that has happened yet. But it's a great move to try and unite the viewership.

Why can't they support both? They've supported 2 RTSes at the same time before. There's also plenty of reason to support both games.

StarCraft 2's major life cycle is over -- Legacy of the Void has been released, they've stated there will be no future Nova-style campaigns. All that's left is co-op content, voice packs, balance updates, and bug fixes. For those reasons, it's safe to assume many people have already been pulled off the StarCraft II team.

I don't think the balance updates have become more infrequent. November 10, 2015 was LotV release First balance update on January 29, 2016, 80 days after release Second balance update on May 23, 2016, 115 days after previous update Third on July 6, 2016, 44 days after previous one Fourth, the big 3.8 overhaul, on November 21, 2016, 138 days after Fifth on December 8, 2016, 17 days after Sixth on December 20, 2016, 12 days after Seventh, the latest one, on March 7, 2017, 77 days after the previous update. I just went off of the date of the blog posts finalizing the updates, but there doesn't seem to be that much of a difference in balance update timing now compared to the other updates in LotV. There might've been more frequent updating in HotS and WoL, but I haven't analyzed those dates.

I think BW fans owuld argue if Blizzard really loved Starcraft, they wouldn't have shut out BW, instead of supporting both. I think they tried too hard to utterly replace BW, for the sake or profit.

I think Blizzard just really thought that they would come around by the time HoTS came out. They made a great game for so many new fans and were blinded by the need to get everyone on board with it. I don't agree with their actions regarding BW and (at least to me) it seems clear now that the two could always have coexisted, but I still don't see it as a lack of love for their franchise.

Blizzard reacted by trying to stomp them out with SC2. that is all ancient history now though.
