Would give my firstborn for Sayle casting ASL RAPID is the memelord, how dare ye. And considering at least half if not more of the people watching on the GSL stream are familiar with SC2 more than BW some watching for the first or second time the comparison is more than warranted.

Lots and lots strange SCII comparisons, "interesting" analysis and artificial almost-yelling. Can someone get Catspaw to cast this stuff in the future? The random guy you said also casted previous ASL with Wolf when Artosis was on vacation and also did hardest job by casting solo TvT. Were you asleep wtf. Catspaw, with all respect, are you serious?

He doesn't know everything about the current Korean "Pro" BW meta but then again probably only a few thousand people on the planet do. And most of them don't live in Korea, speak perfect english, work for a media company and are able to cast at the drop of a hat. You also don't have to watch that stream, there are others. You can keep your precious BW boys club intact if you want to.

Truth hurts, and if that is uncalled for, then what the hell is "doesn't even know basic build orders"? Just a boldfaced lie? "Oh no someone im not familiar with is casting Broodwar and doesn't know the exact timings of these things. This is interfering with my wet dream of only BW players and personalities I care about coming back and replicating 2008 again." How about you enjoy the fact we get a free top level Korean BW cast in English from people who do actually know what they're talking about. "Oh no they mentioned SC2, this is ruining my nostalgic immersion because they are helping people who've never watched pro BW more than a handful of times WHICH IS THE FUCKING MAJORITY OF THE GSL STREAM!!! Im so sick and tired of this stupid broodwar vs SC2 bullshit. People need to grow the fuck up. RANT OVER.

Any terran player who still remembers Brood War back in the day would immediately remember Flash rolling Jaedong with it during his first championship run. That's why people aren't liking his commentary. He acts like he knows a lot but he's clearly forgotten so much that he's basically a colour commentator. Its not terribly insightful and he's not particularly right a lot of the time. Obviously if you don't like it watch a different steam but people still have a right to voice their complaints.

The problem I have with Artosis right now is that he seems to think he still knows everything but he actually forgot almost everything. That leads to the problem that he doesn't even try to acquire the knowledge he needs to let his analytical style cast work. I don't think BisuDagger is too knowledgable, but he is leagues ahead of Artosis right now. And he works on himself, which is the most important thing. I like his casts because they are passionate, entertaining and you can see improvement.

You can keep your precious BW boys club intact if you want to. I don't really know why you get so angry, but you should think of the complaints voiced here more to improve the cast, because everyone who played or even just watched some BW streams for a couple of hours in the last months would see, that they apparently don't even know what the most standard opening in ZvP is right now (and also has been during in the final pro BW days) for example which is 3 Hatch spire into 5 Hatch vs Forge Fast Expand with the 3rd Hatch being build either at the next gas base or the closest 3rd base location. We saw that in every PvZ on Benzene and the casters were surprised every time and wondering why P send the first zealots to the 3rd even when they hadn't scouted it. Their audience is mainly non-BW players so this is actually not really a drawback for their cast because no one there knows, that a lot of the things they say are not correct, but wouldn't it improve the cast, if they had at least some basic knowledge and would some more correct calls? Neither English cast has really good strategic knowledge, but Bisudagger and Co. atleast know the bare basics in the matchups they play themselves.

Tastosis literally said during the last season of ASL and I'm quoting "we are going to be learning and relearning right alongside you all, we'll be holding hands during these casts." Gonna tune in to hear Bisudagger and Flashftw (?) next time though to get a chance to catch the more hardcore BW casting. Seriously, since I started following ASL again it feels like I'm walking on clouds. It feels like the old pro BW is coming back and I'm so profoundly happy about it. Now if Jaedong could somehow advance to the finals and win this, I will be once again a child on Christmas morning. A child who is simply happy to be at that exact moment when everything makes sense, and all is right with the world.

What planet do you live on? I live on a planet where I expect a decent degree of competence from someone who is making it clear that he was deep in the golden age of Korean Brood War. The comparisons with SC2 isn't even an issue if done correctly, the issue is Artosis is doing his job like the SC1 commentator equivalent of Reggie Miller. To be quote honest, I actually think Rapid is better than Artosis is right now. He can be funny, has shown progress over the last season and doesn't have pre-existing conceptions of the game and players. He even did pretty well casting by himself. Artosis' problem right now is that he's a homer commentator fluffing older players or players with some degree of achievement, hasn't remembered old standard builds and players nor kept up with current trends yet sort of props himself up as a figure of authority, and misses important cues and moves. If you're "going to be learning and relearning right alongside you all", you should probably cast like Rapid or GOM-era Tasteless.

As for commentators, I like them, it's a small miracle we get to have them in English so I don't complain.
