Guys,
I am a phd student studying computer science doing research in programming language and machine learning.
I have a deadline in 10 days on March 23
I am streaming the entire process. I've been streaming my coding sessions at work already.
If you want to see the compression of time and urgency up until the deadline, it is the most real experience for being graduate school.
I expect my hours to be rather erratic but roughly speaking it will be starting early around 4-6am and ending around 12pm when I'll take a nap, and resume from 2-4pm until 8-9pm when I go sleep again.
come check it out and drop me some encouragements.

cheers'
edit: the food videos will still be updated since I cleverly recorded a few extra in stock

I'll be bumping this every day for the next 10 days with the goals I would like to achieve in that day I suppose.
Today
coding: i want to finish my algorithm and refactoring my code so I can try it on other benchmarks.
writing: list out major points to say in writing and write down formulas that's relevant for the technical contributions

What kind of PL stuff do you do your research on ? :o

I'm training a neural network model to correct some simple programs

had some pretty fun stream moments yesterday.
Today
coding: improve algorithm still after meeting with my partner and getting some additional pointers
writing: Describe the algorithm components in detail

ooh my undergrad thesis was aobut neural networks. what are you working on?

Good luck, interesting research topic! I definitely don't have the confidence in publicly sharing the raw process of writing literature reviews or other papers like that.
I'll drop in and maybe learn a thing or two. At least your procrastination didn't have you start 3 days before the due date.

Language semantics ?

whoa, this is really cool. i've always wanted to get more of a peek into cs research, especially ML stuff which is all the rage these days, hah.
my academics have never been good enough to get any serious replies from professors through the research systems/cold emails/referrals, so it'd be really interesting getting some insight into research you're doing as a grad student
|
i am going to be writing one too (homology computations), though much less serious than a real paper.

for a moocs setting we have test cases. so it's not that complicated.

I was trying to finish refactoring yesterday but it was more work than anticipated. I made myself a timeline until deadline but unfortunately I already have to shift the dates back haahah.
Hopefully today yields better results. wish me luck. striming now (2:41 am ET until 8am ET), tune in! https://www.twitch.tv/evanthebouncy
will take a break mid-day and come back in afternoon too.

I was trying to finish refactoring yesterday but it wasy WAY MORE WORK. hopefully today I just finish refactoring...
tune in and give me some cheers https://www.twitch.tv/evanthebouncy
I can play guitar for u if u request on stream chat. c u there

yo evan. Are you living in an ET time zone? Cause getting up at 3am and be productive sounds crazy to me. Guess if you'll answer this fast, I'm tempting you to procrastinate / ur having a break. Hope for the latter and bonne chance for your work. I actually have no idea what exactly ur doing/researching/programming, it just sounds... amazing...qualified...hightech...nerdy... idk makes me remember the deepmind vs GO world champion (I would have butchered his name, so I ommit due to laziness).

Good luck! and don't forget to make some food!

yeah I'm on Eastern Time I'm just running this "meta" experiment where I'd sleep whenever I get tired and work whenever I'm up and eat food w/e in the between. So far it's working okay but by far the 3am - 8am period is most productive, and the 4pm - 11pm less productive.
We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I finish the benchmarking soon and I can start working on the paper soon so u guys can really know what I'm working on.
gonna take nap now, c u on strim in 4 hours.

I think I will tune in on monday and check out what exactly I have no clue about Concerning productivity I have the same "issue" that the early hours are the most productive with a sharp decline in the later hours. If I don't start early, I often don't get any shit done unless I stay up unti 3am... ~ anyway, fingers crossed here.
