3 January, 2371. USS Java.

"Sir, I'm reading a warp signature on long range sensors. It's a Borellian freighter, looks to be heading towards Starbase 109."

Captain Pienaar looked confused for a second. "Borellian freighter? I didn't know they traded this far into Federation space."

The young Trill pilot at the conn checked her sensor readings, then turned back to the command chair. "Definitely Borellian sir, although usually those sorts of freighters can't get past warp 5. This one looks to be going at warp 7."

Captain Pienaar thought for a second. "Report it to Starfleet command, and maintain our previous course. I'm not going to throw off our mapping of the Yueling Nebula to chase a jumped-up scrap hauler."

6 January, 2371. Section 31 HQ. Location Unknown.

The Director was, as always, shrouded by a dampening field. None of the assembled officers of Section 31 had ever seen his face, and they knew that they most likely never would. They were in a small room at HQ, sat down in front of a large display screen showing a starmap of Federation space. A red line gouged its way through the middle of Federation space.

"Our assets at Starfleet Intelligence report that Borellian freighter activity has been unusually high along the Ryza trade routes. And we also know that at least five security breaches in the last three months have been traced to Starbase 109, or ships that have visited there."

The Director paused, and the starmap focussed in on a system on the border of Federation space.

"I don't believe in coincidences. Visit the Borellian system, and destroy the shipyards at Borell IV. This traderoute is a vector for Dominion infiltrators, and it must be excised."

"Sir" piped up one of the officers, "intel suggests there are at least fifteen thousand civillians working at the shipyards, as well as hundreds of Borell military personnel. There are also at least a dozen Federation liason officers assigned there."

The Director's holo-shrouded face turned slightly. "The Borellian's have made their bed, and now they must lie in it."
