"Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" is the most recent effort from creationists to attain a niche of credibility by throwing mud at the public image of the theory of evolution and science in general. Ben Stein, the host, claims that the scientific community persecutes those that dare question "darwinism", that the theory of evolution is impotent because it cannot explain the origin of life or gravity (yes, this is supposed to make sense) and that "darwinism" was necessary for the holocaust to take place.
The trailer:
You may have noticed that figures such as Richard Dawkins and Daniel Dennet are featured in the film. They, as well as others (PZ Meyers, Eugenie Scott, Michael Shermer), have been duped into giving interviews that can later be edited (it's obvious even in the trailer that Dawkins' sentence is edited from 2 other sentences). The producers pretended they were making an objective documentary about the intersection of religion and science called "Crossroads". When later challenged on this, they claimed it was only a working title and that this is common when producing documentaries. However the name "Expelled" had been reserved by the producers months prior to the interview, so it is now clear it was a deliberate and dishonest maneuver.
After a spectacularly ironic public relations blunder where they expelled one of the scientists that is featured in the film from a screening (read his blog entry, its hilarious), one has to wonder if this isn't too stupid to be true. Well, it doesn't stop here. They even went so far as to steal a harvard video and then claim it as their own!
