yay for 2am blog written on my phone
I'm uninstalling Dota for the remainder of summer and fall terms after ti5. Edit: This is why:

Also if I end up playing it all day on for example the weekend, I end up really depressed for some reason which cuts really hard into my productivity which then in turn makes me feel even worse for the next few days.
So I found EE-sama today and took his picture for someone else, and then didn't ask for a picture of my own. Wtf. For some reason i had this idea in my head that he really didn't want to be standing around taking pictures with fans, but looking back on it, that doesn't make much sense for the situation. To make things worse, I started standing in line to get his autograph, and the employee is like, "ur resolution (to me), and ur EE (to someone else)." It didn't make any sense to me until like 10 minutes later once the line moved, then I realized that the line for EE was full and I was f I rst in line for resolution, a player which I didn't remember which team they were even on.
I was devastated, and like a jackass, left the line immediately. It wasn't actually a wrong decision, but it's not something I'm proud of.
To make up for this, I have decided to get iceiceice's autograph if it ever comes up in the schedule, and barring that, any pro or personality that I know who's attending the event.
Oh yeah, I also saw a sick pa cosplayer and then didn't ask to take a picture, which I really wanted to do but didn't. So I'm going to do my best to get pictures of cosplayers from here on out.
Wish me luck!

People make stupid mistakes when nervous (which is what happens around people they put a lot of value into, like famous people). Forgive yourself and imo don't set dumb arbitrary goals with the pretense of enjoying the event. Just actually enjoy it.

When I ask for signatures from SC2 pros I try to remember that they are there to have fun and doing it voluntarily, this isn't like meeting Obama or the Pope. Just smile, tell them hello and ask them how their day went and get a signature or picture. Hope you can meet EE again and get that photo.

I feel this is more of a blog on your inability to self regulate more than anything a lot of my friends used to uninstall their vidya when finals rolled around and I never really understood why. I mean if I had the itch to play the game I'd just reinstall, 10-15 minutes of waiting isn't going to stop that itch.
frankly I think the key thing to solving this problem is to have enough self control to carry out your chores and life needs without resorting to arbitrary removal of distractions. complete removal of something you enjoy isn't going to make your life any happier. if you don't have that self control, then displacing yourself into an environment that is conducive to more 'productive' tasks such as the library for studying, coffee shops for reading, etc is a much better solution. even relocating from say, studying in your room in front of your computer to sitting at your dining table/kitchen bench will make a big difference.
also I can't really speak for you but for myself, taking that first step by removing myself from that comfort zone and actually starting on the task is the hardest part; after that the task itself comes pretty easily.
side note; I feel better about big projects (and tests) when I split them up into multiple small and incremental portions so that a. you're not overwhelmed b. you feel accomplished when you finish that allotted portion and feel better about whatever leisure activity you're doing to wind down c. less chances of distractions throughout the project compared to procrastinating and doing the project/studying all at once, the results are more or less pretty similar. throughout the process, however, I feel much better about myself and what I achieve.
ofc all of this is speaking from my experience, so idk how this will work for you.
regarding the picture thing, sometimes in life you just need to 'do' instead of think. pretty sure aubrey graham coined the colloquialism yolo for a reason.

I think you're spot on here. I think uninstalling Dota may still be a good idea because I have other options for video games which are still really fun but don't eat my life up the way starcraft and Dota did for so many years. When I play Dota I start wanting to spam games and get really good and I can't commit to that while also learning how to function in society.
I 100% agree with starting projects early. I'm doing that now with my physics lectures, studying for an upcoming test.

Good luck i was hoping to play some inhouses with you and the others members of the site but i wish you all the best in your physics projects bro
