That said, first appearance of a visual novel track is Air? Go figure, I guess, though I have to say I am more partial to Clannad in terms of music. EDIT - Also surprised at how low the first Touhou track popped up considering how it is 2ch. Oh, also, the second screen of track list is repeated with the first.

BTW, thanks a lot for this, must have taken a lot of work and time. Very much appreciated. P.S. It is giving me something to listen to while I browse ^_^.

For all of Chrono Cross' faults, the game really did have some of the sexiest music ever put into a game. I know many non-gamers that love Scars of Time.

Also, I know the list is all Japanese, but Lineage 2 had/has AMAZING music, better than some of those. I used to play Lineage II 5 years ago, and yeah you reminded me how good the music was. I was able to find some on youtube but not much, and I couldn't find any torrents to OSTs as well. You have any links to share? I don't want to download the 10gb+ game client from Korea's official homepage just to get the soundtracks .

Also...well, that there are regularly orchestrated and remixed versions of these classic game musics to be found in Japan probably also contributes. Something like that is simply not quite likely to be found with more modern games. Take FF4's Theme of Love, I've heard at least three unique orchestral versions of that song alone, and that is not counting fan works.

just listened to the top 10, it's amazing to see how "8. FINAL FANTASY - FF Series" evolved from FF1 to FFXII, magnificent tune.

Chrono Cross was super hit and miss IMO, with some great plot music at times, some nice tunes here and there, and some epic failures like the battle musics. Time's Scar is definitely not among my picks from CC though. Anyhow we all obviously disagree with most everything on the list so I'm not going to bother filing most of my grievances about much of anything. But there's a huge lack of Sakuraba in general, only the Baten Kaitos battle music at #41 and the last overworld theme from Tales of Phantasia at #94. You'd expect more Tales stuff from how popular the series is, and aside from that Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean (I'll grant Golden Sun is less popular in Japan, etc.). Btw, for the sake of correct translation, the game in #5 is Okami. #41, #50, and #76 "The Creation of Heaven and Earth" is known as "Terranigma", the Enix action RPG spiritual successor to Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia. Nice work translating though. I'll see if I can find any more games I recognize that you might have gotten wrong. edit: btw all of the "Secret of Mana 2" you have is Seiken Densetsu 2 = Secret of Mana (1), not SD3. Oh yeah, I know "the creation of heaven and earth" is the proper literal translation, but there's the actual translated name in Europe and Australia. =) edit2: "Secret of Mana - Final Fantasy Side Story" is a SD game too, but we call it Final Fantasy Legend (on GB, later remade into Sword of Mana on GBA). But I think anybody who knows what Final Fantasy Side Story or FF Gaiden refers to knows that it's FFL anyway. edit3: Oh wtf I just noticed it was you that bothered reuploading to YouTube? Much appreciated. Now stop distracting me dammit I have work to do. -_-;;
