in-game a lot of the texture transitions are very abrupt and harsh, which again makes the map harder to read quickly, making certain areas appear narrower than they actually are, which is a problem on a map based around narrow corridors in the first place. on a personal level this is especially annoying since it's a texturing style i avoid on purpose but is now attached to my map. also at bottom right they broke the spiral. wtf blizz. /s and finally, like newsunshine said, what's the point?

What was the point of retexturing Yeonsu, what was the point of adding little ice patches on Expedition Lost... The answer is simple : there is none, but they'll probably keep doing that until the end of times.

As fucked up as that is to say. lol. The aesthetics aren't that big of a deal, they look about on par with the original aesthetics IMO. Maybe slightly less readable, but eh you can still read it fine. Makes it slightly harder to read on the overview but probably looks slightly better in-game.

But I suppose shiting on blizzard is the way to sound cool in this subforum... it's not even what was done, but that it has been done, it's highly unrespectfull to take someones work and alter it without as much as letting them know its being done, what's worse is they stripped his credit as well. Not to mention they took the time to redo the textures like that, but couldn't take 2 seconds to properly identify the map's creator in the description. I'd give them a pass for shit like this, but they seem to pull it off every chance they get. sort of in the same boat, but I'm not ok with this exactly because of the last sentence.

Taste and opinions... But I suppose shiting on blizzard is the way to sound cool in this subforum... It's not just shitting on Blizzard to do it. You might say 'well, you got a map on ladder, so you can't really complain', but that's bullshit. There's a lot of art in mapmaking, from the concept of the layout to every last aesthetic detail, and so when I say a map is my baby, as you put it, there's a lot of artistic integrity embedded into that. So when I catch wind that my map is going on ladder, and then I see them do... what they do... to it, especially on a map that looked perfectly fine for all purposes, is an insult to the creator's vision. Now if I make a new map for the intent of making ladder with it, why would I bother to create an aesthetic for the map, if Blizzard is just going to do as they please anyway? I could have a vision of a cool new aesthetic I might want to do, but now I don't feel like it would fly, they will just pick it apart again. It just goes to reflect the 'why bother?' feeling I keep getting with regards to mapmaking.

Sorry but I disagree, Blizzard funded TLMC 6 afaik, n0 got his reward, map was added to next map pool, the fact that in the editor you can see another name is totally irrelevant (who the f looks at this anyway?). Just wait until next season to see what is the actual description on the map. If at that time, the credit does not go to n0 then you can can rant, until then it's totally irrelevant. Point 2 : sorry, I played both versions, and I say Blizzard one is totally not worse, if anything I'm thankfull they reduced the area of whitish sand by adding some green and brown, it's way more comfortable for my eyes, and we already have coda and iron fortress that are full of the same whitish sand, enough is enough I'd say Again, I understand it's trendy do shit on blizzard on this starcraft hipster subforum, just be careful to not hit the point where it's getting overly ridiculous. Edit : aren't you the guy that asked to be banned from TL because this very exact map was selected as finalist? are you kidding me?

Edit : aren't you the guy that asked to be banned from TL because this very exact map was selected as finalist? are you kidding me? yes, blizzard offered a prizepool for TLMC 6, and while thats cool and all, nobody ever did mapping for the money, if that was our intend we wouldn't throw away hours upon hours in the editor for no pay off at all, the money is more a gesture than a genuine reward, than entering a map to improve the SC2 scene. you may consider the 2nd point irrelevant, but it being a rude move completely nulifies your first point that Blizzard is the cool kid supporting us, when they don't even as much as acknowledge the existance of the author, behaviour like this gives me the impression that they're only buying happy faces and care little about what happens. besides offering a prizepool, they have messed with the results of the contest, stripping any remaining legitemacy TLMC ever had. as for the texture job, the quality matters little at all, what matters is their behaviour, which is considered highly impolite by any normal standards. as for the shitting on blizzard because its edgy thing, that single comment got me upset enough to ask for the unbann, and now you're really making my blood boil, how hard is it to grasp that someone can have a genuine negative opinion. as much as I'd like to insult you into the ground right now, I'll leave that of the forums. and yes, I did ask for a ban, but I already explained that elsewhere, the main reason even being that I'd save time insult people like you all day.

Taste and opinions... But I suppose shiting on blizzard is the way to sound cool in this subforum... it's not entirely frustration, a lot of it is just that i got so accustomed to its original appearance during the entire process of making it that any changes automatically looked weird to me. after looking back at it again i agree that blizzard's version actually isn't too bad aesthetically speaking, although i still think it still destroys the map's easy readability.
