After reading the Lord's interview I noticed this comment:
It looks like SC2 has been improving in popularity in Korea lately. What do you think is the cause of this?
Flash: "I think it’s been coinciding with the fact that LoL has been starting to lose popularity in Korea."
Which had me visualizing a grand event!
The BW fans bitter about SC2 removing their crown jewel would start to give it another chance. The LoL fans looking for something more complicated would try their hand at the game, and many more players from other areas would come also. After seeing how fast Counter Strike grew to having 100k+ viewers a tournament, I believe anything is possible.
So 5 years after initial release we will have a reversion of a kind: people will be coming back and asking "well how is the game faring now after they have had 5 years to work on it and make it a great video game?"
With this grand return of interest; this grand return of players and curiousness, what is our answer.....
"Hi everyone! Yeah we're pretty much scrapping it all and just gonna basically create a new game for LotV, wish us luck!"
It would have been better if by the end of 5 years we had methodically worked towards a game we all thought was beautiful. Alas, given the current situation, this massive change-up in gameplay and units remains our only hope.
GOOD LUCK BLIZZARD

Maybe they heard good things about the new expansion beta.

I can't respect esports at all anymore. It has just become progressively more and more fake, more and more about selling the latest games and manufacturing brand loyalty.
There is hype for a new game to be played at a high level, that's all. I wouldn't get your hopes up about it being the salvation of rts in esports.
btw, just for some added bitterness, Flash is one of the players who got the most fucked over by the switch, fyi. He's a trooper and he'll tough anything out, but he got so robbed. So what you're saying has a weird twinge of irony.

i'm not saying you're wrong to detest the trend, but it would be silly to have expected anything else. that's how money is made and moneymakers will always find opportunities wherever they exist. esports is just a broad concept of video games being played competitively for prizes, i'm not sure what there is to respect or not respect tbqh

herp derp, I'm so mature I can't believe people say fake like it's a bad thing.
Anyway ya, watching Flash grow up making BW his vocation, watching him overcome lots of challenges and gaining lots of respect for him, kinda sucks to see him suffer for shitty reasons. I think dedicating yourself to a skill your entire childhood and then suddenly having it become useless feels a bit like robbery, especially when it's someone's fault and that someone was just trying to make extra money. You might be the best turtle juggler no one gives a fuck about, but I don't think anyone stopped caring about Flash's StarCraft skill. Even if people did stop caring, I still feel sad for him.
"adapt or die" ok good job being heartless, I'm sure everyone you know thinks you're real smart. Not everything in life is business or money. The whole point is that there's a lot more satisfaction when someone is both great AND makes money, as opposed to just makes money. That's what I mean by fake. There's nothing underneath the glam and money. It's humiliating for consumers to get used and treated like idiots. I really dislike that sort of business, even if it is effective.

I'm getting more and more jaded about everyone trying to grab the pack for a quick buck and the fans not realizing it. Just look at what Dota 2 has devolved into, the game went from "we don't want skins that will change the heroes silhouette" to "here have any and every skin we can pump out" and I don't even blame them because the fans eat it up. Now everything is about ranked ladders and MMR and being the next big esport and no one cares about making fun games anymore.

No.
When it's good, it's good. But when it's bad, it's also bad.
SC2 can get all of the chances that it wants. If it doesn't pass my test, then I will not play it.
+ Show Spoiler +past behaviour is a good predictor for future behaviour. It won't pass it.

FTFY
Seriously dude, what the F? for me as a BW fan, im not bitter or anything about this game of yours. I played sc2 for 2 years, i got tired of it, it's not a fun game to me. Im not hoping that Sc2 get's back on track or improves, coz i actually don't care. I care about the game i play. If anything, i am happy when an ex BW Pro retires and starts to play BW Starleagues again, not because i despise Sc2, but because i obviously am happy to see them play. And hopefully, that's what Flash will do.
I agree with Chef, that this "Esport" Industry, that tries to create just the next hype for a short while and then lures us to the next game is pretty miserable. Where's the value in a Sport if it get's obsolote every 2 years? Imgaine they would stop broadcasting Soccer today for some other game and drop that 2 years after. Nobody gives a shit anymore after a short while.
