As a zerg player, I don't the gas is any more difficult to get on this map than in python, where z often take a main as their 3rd so they can easily defend the ramp.
As for p not being able to defend the min only, they can if they are in the middle highground. As is mentioned above, securing the middle is key to staying in the game. So a protoss who can't defend his min only has already lost, probably. Also, protoss can just take an island, main, or nat as an alternative. Or the close min only, if they think they can hold it.

This is the worst map I have ever played. It's fucking terrible.

It's a pretty standard map, but a good one. I was getting sick of Troy and the likes to play on, those are for progamers to play and me to watch, not for me to play

u mean boring...and how are ice maps boring..(hitchhiker, tau cross, blah, who cares..) anyways, i was talkin about the min only and the wide space behind the mains (turrets will need to cover more ground and it will take more time to kill the shuttle)

Ice maps aren't necessarily boring, but I think that the color scheme is rather ugly compared to the other tilesets. Green, white, blue, and brown? Blah.
But this map is very aesthetically pleasing XD

Ok, just played one game on this map. I like how it plays, though ive always hated minerals where you gather from above I think im getting used to longi/python/blue storm too much.
The extra expansion is really susceptible to tanks, so i gotta be careful with that. Ill be playin on this one more to get used to it

Faoi II updates: Islands moved, they are now approximately two tiles off of being exactly between both starting locations Tiles everywhere edited, including to force top right's main's ramp to require depot/depot/rax walling, removing bad tile at bottom right's nat, correction of copy/paste error in middle, simple decoration changes and additions Top right and bottom left's main minerals modified Gap behind red/blue's min onlys removed Obs Triggers slightly modified
Comments/Suggestions welcome. This version will be placed in ICCup when the pack changes in April.

cool dood. Just played a comp in it I must say i feel better playing this one than the other one. You changed the 2nd expos right?
I still need to find some1 to play with before I make my final criticism. Good job so far ^^

I changed nothing except the things I listed in my post above. Only bases I modified were the islands, top right/bottom left main's minerals, and one mineral of top right min only.

FAOI III (Final (hopefully -.-))
Map was 100% remake from scratch, so it's now editable (thanks to protection + unprotection only tile editing was possible, and it's certainly not practical).
The middle was changed, and red/teal's min only areas were altered, and the distances and sizes are almost equal everywhere. Islands now have 8 mineral blocks. Outside of visuals, I don't think anything else was changed.
Biggest worry on the map was tvp, but with the min only areas and middle being wider, p shouldn't have a problem. As for the expo layout, the island is a more viable choice as it has 8 mineral blocks rather than 6 now. So essentially, everything in the map protoss favouring has been accentuated. Is the map wtfzomgprotoss map? I doubt it, all of the things that would limit protoss are still there. The min only's role has not changed. Map should be better zvt now too. More flanking room helps z during the period of the game where t is stronger than z, and then helps terran once hive tech is up and z is stronger than t.
