This thread is dedicated to Monday Night Starbow! A weekly event taking place on the Americas server with the intention of helping to grow the North American Starbow community.
So what is Monday Night Starbow?
Events:
Monday Night Starbow will cycle between $25 Open Tournaments and other formats. Open Tournaments will take place every other week with a variety of other events on off-weeks, including:
Open Tournaments will be held every other week for $25, winner takes all. We would love to be able to continue to offer these $25 events forever, but we need YOUR HELP to make it happen! We currently have enough money (especially with SoaH's gift) to run maybe 5 or so of these.
So, check out the first event next week and see if you like it. Leave me feedback, I'll work on some things, and then, if you think I'm doing a good job, throw some money on over to the official Starbow paypal account and indicate that you would like to see it go to Monday Night Starbow!
Description: For MNS #4 we will be having a fun time with some casual team games and monobattles. No signing up is necessary, just show up to the Starbow chat channel and indicate that you would like to play.
To participate, simply be in the Starbow chat channel on Americas Server at 23:00 GMT (+00:00). See you there!
There will be no sign-up or brackets for this event, I simply request that all Starbowners who wish to play be on Americas Server at Tuesday, Dec 23 12:00am GMT (GMT+00:00). Challengers to the King will get to choose any official Starbow or Stardoge map to play on. Sorry about the tardiness of this announcement. This is pretty informal and I've been busy this last week.
For a look at TvZ, start from the beginning. PvT starts at 40:16 and ZvP is 1:28:30.
Get inside the mind of TRB!
Tonight (12/29/14) @ 7:00pm EST (12:00am CET, 4:00pm PST) tune in to the Official Starbow Twitch Channel for some matchup analysis with one of Starbow's pre-eminent players, tehredbandit, followed by community game night!
Tehredbandit will be going over some Starbow replays to help new players (and veterans) get a better sense of how Starbow plays out and what strategies and tactics are available to players in various situations. If you're intrigued by Starbow but aren't sure where to begin when it comes to general strategy, this is one edition of Monday Night Starbow you should be sure to watch!
After having your head filled with Starbow knowledge, you're invited to join chat channel "Starbow" on NA server to play fun games such as Big Game Hunters, Team Games, Free-for-alls and Monobattles to learn Starbow's mechanics and units!
Tehredbandit is one of the prominent members of the Starbow community and one of the mod's most accomplished players. Tehredbandit is the three time champion of Monday Night Starbow Opens, two-time MNS Runner-Up, and Runner-Up of the first Starbow Ladder Cup. Tehredbandit is also one of the community's most valuable playtesters and contributes to the development of Starbow. Additionally, you can frequently find tehredbandit streaming Starbow at http://www.twitch.tv/tehredbandit. I'm comfortable saying that nearly everyone, new players and seasoned veterans alike, could learn something from TRB's analysis.
I want to do a proleague format team captain event for a future Monday Night Starbow. I realllllllly want this to happen, but I NEED people to commit to it.
The idea:
TEAM AWESOME STARBOWNER A vs. TEAM AWESOME STARBOWNER B
Given the participation of two AWESOME STARBOWNERS (the team captains) we'll have a proleague style competition between the two teams (Team A and Team B)
For example, the event could look like this:
Team TEHREDBANDIT vs. Team FRANSCAR
Lich << Neo DeserTec >> Fatal FinN << Neo Dante's Peak >> ArcticHydra Jams << Texas 3.0 >> DecofCaffee Ardi << Match Point 2.0 >> BorN Scaphism << Luna >> Balthazar Wonkman << Circuit Breaker >> Moxielegend BO 3: Tehredbandit vs. Franscar
This is just the initial idea. We could always do BO3 for every match instead of going the "proleague" route, depending on how many participants.
So what I would like for you lovely people to do is fill out this form if you are interested in participating:
I would like to have this event ready to go for MNS #18, but we could do it for MNS #20 as well. The more people to sign up the more fun this event will be. And remember: ANYONE CAN SIGN UP AND HOPEFULLY HAVE AN EVEN MATCHUP!
Sign-Up & Check In: Players must sign up to participate ahead of time using the Google form. Then players must present themselves in chat channel "MNS" on Americas Server by 22:05 GMT (+00:00) to begin the draft process.
Draft: Once participants are confirmed we will begin the draft. Team Captains will draft their teams. First pick will be determined by a coin flip, and the draft will proceed through a snake style draft.
Even Matches: Players will face the opponent drafted in the same round. Hopefully this assures that each player gets a relatively even match.
Match Format: Depending on number of participants, format will be BO1 with a BO3 Finals between the Captains, or BO3 with BO5 finals between the Captains.
Maps: Current Ladder Map Pool will be used. As such the maps are:
Circuit Breaker
Fighting Spirit
Luna
Match Point 2.0
Neo Dante's Peak
Neo DeserTec
Ride of Valkyries
Rose of Dream
Texas 3.0
Map lineup:
Match 1: Texas 3.0 (~E level)
Match 2: Luna (~D level)
Match 3: Neo DeserTec (maybe ~D again?)
Match 4: Match Point 2.0 (~C level)
Match 5: Fighting Spirit (~B level)
Match 6: Circuit Breaker (~A level)
Captain's Match BO3: Start on Circuit Breaker, 1 veto, loser picks map
Even if a bunch of players have signed up, feel free to sign up and show up to check in! You never know who will show and who won't! But I urge you to PLEASE SHOW UP IF YOU FILL OUT THE GOOGLE FORM!
Sign-Ups: No need to sign-up, just show up to chat channel 'Starbow' @ 7:00pm EST!
Tonight @ 7:00pm EST join the Starbow community in chat channel 'Starbow' on Americas Server for a fun night of Archon Mode games on the new Starbow - Fighting Spirit Archon Mode map! Depending on the number of players, the format will change as is appropriate.
I would prefer to have a small Archon-mode tournament, with the tournament winner taking on a higher-level player in a 2v1 "challenge".
