Dragon Age is my favorite franchise and I have been waiting for almost two and a half years for this game! Anyways to the point. I have promised everyone that I would be making weekly blog posts about my e-Sports team "Impact e-Sports" and the decision behind the development of the team. Next blog post will feature Impact e-Sports rather than having the title eSports team, so hopefully people recognize it.
So despite my procrastination, I have had one thing fumbling question in the back of my head. What major do I pick, that's going to compliment an career in e-Sports? In about a month and a half I will be choosing my major that I study at the University of Saskatchewan, and for the longest time I have had my mind set on management and entrepreneurship. But as this term progressed I have been attending my Marketing 204 class, and learning quite a bit more about branding. I've realized that Marketing definitely would help as well. The dilemma; Marketing or Management? I have to know in a month and a half!
Here's what they list at the University website. Management is a lot of financial consulting, business planning, public relations and entrepreneurism. Marketing on the other hand, brand and product development, event management and marketing research. Both have many pro's and I honestly don't know which path would be best suited. Obviously Impact e-Sports is a brand that needs to be developed properly, but its also a business that I myself will have to develop further.
As of right now going to any academic adviser about which major I want to pursue, is something that's off the table, due to the lack of knowledge on e-Sports in general. I've already talked to one of them, and they focused on what I was mainly interested in. Both majors have things that I am interested in, so the session overall was not much help.
So to conclude, I have to ask you the community for help. What major do you guys think would be the best option in terms of e-Sports and to further develop Impact e-Sports? Does anyone know anyone within the community that I could maybe contact to get a bit of insight on my dilemma?
Thanks for reading guys, and again I have roughly a month and half before I have to pick my major.
