It's back.
Though it might not be apparent immediately, I've made some pretty incredible changes to SC2CTL over the past several months. MYTHLOGIC saw what we're doing and liked it, and have jumped on board this season as our title sponsor. We're now ready to go live with registrations for what I hope will be everyone's favourite Team League! Live at http://sc2ctl.com/about But now, the details:
What is it?
SC2CTL is a Team League for all levels - from the lowliest of bronze, to Professional-level teams, everyone that is part of this community is welcome in SC2CTL. The format of SC2CTL is architected for maximum participation. Absolutely every team involved will play for a minimum of six weeks, and everyone has a chance to qualify for the finals with the wildcard slots, regardless of performance in the league.
When is it?
Registrations for the league is now open, so get your teams together. Registrations will close and the league will start April 13th, 2014.
Who can play?
There are three available divisions to allow competition with players of similar level: a Bronze/Silver/Gold division, Platinum/Diamond division and a Masters/Grandmasters division - last season we not only had high-caliber players like Drunkenboi, MaSa and hendralisk, but we also had a large number of lower-league teams duking it out every week in the league.
Prizes?
This season MYTHLOGIC signed on as our title sponsor and has provided us with over $1000 of prizing, along with their expertise to help us source more prizes and ship them out. What this means is that we have a prize pool of $700 for competitive, $70 for advanced and $20 for casual. Over the course of the season we will also announce many other prizes available for achieving unique things throughout the league. Some old favourites like CombatEXTreme (best cheese or allin play) and the bellcurve award (team with the highest median winrate for each player) will be returning!
Format
The format of season 2 is a six-round swiss-tournament, followed by a single-elimination playoff bracket. For those unfamiliar with Swiss, it's a format in which teams are matched up against teams of similar skill - for example, in the third round, those who are 2-0 will be matched up with the other 2-0's and the 1-1's will be matched with other 1-1's, etc. This keeps the league competitive and make sure everyone has a fun, equal opponent to play against. Full details are available at http://sc2ctl.com/format
Proleague?
You bet. Allkill was incredibly fun last season, but we're ready to try something new and proleague allows for a lot of benefits that we're excited to try!
Gallagation's hair?
Wingnutsc and gallagation are back this season again, and they'll be casting matches twice a week. Your SC2CTL fix will be wonderfully sated. This season we're also looking to dedicated a streaming day for the Advanced and Casual divisions - so look out for an announcement on that, and if you're interested in casting fire off an email to adult@sc2ctl.com.
What's the catch?
We're not officially supporting Europe anymore. Europeans are welcome to play, but are expected to be accommodating to NA-friendly times. Sorry.
